JERUSALEM: Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists the U.S. relationship with Israel remains unchanged, despite the blowback over Israel’s strike targeting Hamas negotiators in Qatar last week.

“We’re going to continue to be strong allies and partners,” Rubio vowed in an exclusive and wide-ranging interview with Fox News in Jerusalem. “As the president said, he wasn’t happy with the way things went down. That doesn’t mean we’re going [to] stop being their partner and their ally.”

Rubio told Fox News he is now heading to Doha on Tuesday where he’ll urge Qatar to continue playing a “constructive role” in ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of hostages still being held by Hamas.

GOP responds to Charlie Kirk’s death with anything but gun control– www.dailykos.com

Conservatives have come up with a host of measures they want taken to avenge right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s murder—none of which include gun reforms.

Most of the proposals are retributive, with Republicans blaming the nebulous “left” for Kirk’s death and demanding that the “left” face punishment for it.

President Donald Trump—who was so distraught by Kirk’s death that he was seen happily dancing the next day at a Yankees game—said he wants to target progressive groups, claiming without evidence that they “contributed to this atrocity.”

Congressional Republicans seemed happy to help Trump in that endeavor, with Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas and nearly two dozen other House Republicans demanding that GOP Speaker Mike Johnson create a new committee to investigate progressive groups that they baselessly accused of being responsible for Kirk’s death.

“In the wake of numerous attacks on our way of life, the destruction of the rule of law, and the murder of innocent Americans, prominent and unknown alike, we must take every step to follow the money and uncover the force behind the NGOs, donors, media, public officials, and all entities driving this coordinated attack,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter to Johnson, specifically referencing right-wing boogeyman George Soros and the Southern Poverty Law Center as groups they want to see investigated.

Monday on CNN’s “OutFront,” chronic Trump critic Adam Kinzinger claimed “people like” Vice President JD Vance were trying to make the assassination of Charlie Kirk a “divisive thing.”

Host Erin Burnett said, “As you are both aware, a bunch of people have been fired for saying things after the Charlie Kirk murder. Congressman, so when you hear JD Vance hosting that podcast, the sitting Vice President of the United States hosting the Kirk podcast today, I know you had a chance to listen to much of it. You know, what did you think?”

Kinzinger said, “I mean, look, this is the weirdest time. It’s you know, there’s only as I see it, only one kind of group of people trying to make this a very divisive thing and that is people like JD Vance. I mean I’ve only seen, like, we can all go on Twitter and see people that celebrate it. They’re usually faceless, nameless people and it’s disgusting. But every Democratic leader I’ve seen has expressed remorse for what happened, has expressed concern, has expressed compassion for the family. It’s like they’re trying to stir this thing up and it’s this is so dangerous. That’s the thing is, this is such a dangerous moment because a cycle of violence is what I fear, and a cycle of violence doesn’t end well for anybody. Nobody wanted this to happen to Charlie Kirk. this is awful. and for the vice president to say he knows who did it and the motivation. I don’t even think law enforcement has said that there was a specific motivation behind it. So this is really dangerous.”

The European Union has indefinitely postponed the adoption of its 19th sanctions package against Russia, Politico reported on Tuesday, citing officials familiar with the decision.

European capitals were informed of the delay on Monday afternoon, though it remains unclear when the package might be finalized or what prompted the holdup. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas had said that the bloc’s latest measures “should be ready” by the end of the month.

Some member states have pushed for the new sanctions to include tighter restrictions on visas for Russian citizens. Visa issuance currently falls under the authority of individual countries, leading to wide variation. Poland and the Netherlands, for example, stopped issuing tourist visas to Russians after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, while Spain and Slovakia recently reopened application centers in Moscow.

President Donald Trump teased on Monday that a deal has been made with China regarding trade and the future of TikTok.

“The big Trade Meeting in Europe between The United States of America, and China, has gone VERY WELL! It will be concluding shortly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“A deal was also reached on a ‘certain’ company that young people in our Country very much wanted to save,” he said, referring to TikTok. “They will be very happy!”

TikTok was set to be inaccessible to American users in January, but Trump delayed the start date of the ban’s enactment to find an American buyer for the social media platform. China’s ByteDance owns the app, which poses national security concerns for the United States.

After months of negotiations and setbacks, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the U.S. and China are “very close” to finalizing a deal on TikTok.

“We made very good progress on the technical details of the agreement. In terms of the overall agreement itself, our Chinese counterparts have come with a very aggressive ask,” he told reporters in Madrid, Spain, on the second day of talks. “We will see if we can get there. At present, we are not willing to sacrifice our national security for a social media app.”

U.S. President Donald Trump imposed the tariff on Brazil in July, citing what he called a “witch hunt” against former President Jair Bolsonaro, who at the time stood accused of trying to illegally hang onto power.

As President Donald Trump directs U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies to continue the crackdown on violent illegal aliens, news has emerged about efforts to deport a dangerous Cuban career criminal.

According to Fox News, ICE reported that the federal agency has filed paperwork for an arrest detainer and deportation of an illegal alien who used a machete to behead a Texas merchant.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, an illegal alien from Cuba, was arrested in Dallas.

He was charged with homicide after a gruesome murder involving a Texas merchant.

The murder, which involved the decapitation of the merchant, reportedly happened in front of the victim’s family.

It’s understandable why ICE would want to collar him and send him packing, as he’s one of the ones Trump has warned Americans about for years now.

Not only did Cobos-Martinez allegedly decapitate the merchant after an argument in front of the man’s family, but he then reportedly proceeded to kick the victim’s head around “like a soccer ball.”

A new report issued by the James G. Martin Center outlines how diversity, equity and inclusion at medical schools in the United States compromises “academic standards, undermine merit-based admissions and hiring, and jeopardize public health outcomes.”

“Medical education must prioritize competence, not ideology,” Jenna A. Robinson, James G. Martin Center president said in a press release. “This report reveals the extent to which DEI policies are weakening the physician pipeline at a time when Americans need highly skilled, well-trained doctors.”

Authored by Martin Center Senior Fellow Jay Schalin, the report, “An End to Excellence: How Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Undermine Our Medical Schools,” looked at the 10 top-ranked American medical schools with respect to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs and policies.

The schools in the report include Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School, Stanford University School of Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Yale School of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles and Weill Cornell Medicine.

Schalin’s report examines how DEI policies, described as an aggressive extension of affirmative action, have eroded meritocracy in the nation’s medical schools by prioritizing race, gender and ideologies in areas like admissions, faculty hiring, curricula and student programs, potentially leading to less competent physicians and compromised health care.

The Trump administration has drafted a plan to activate 1,000 National Guard troops in Louisiana, reports claim.

The troops would reportedly be sent to Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

According to reports, National Guard troops would support law enforcement operations in the state’s urban centers.

WBRZ explained:

The plan, confirmed by the Pentagon, would have National Guard troops support law enforcement in Louisiana’s “urban centers,” but hinges on a formal request from Gov. Jeff Landry, according to the report. Landry has shown support for troop deployment in Louisiana in the past, but he has not yet made an official request.

According to The Washington Post, troops would help with drug enforcement and communication support in the current plan.

The report comes after Trump has made more than one mention of sending troops to New Orleans in the last several days.

“Scientists Panic as Satellites Die Without Warning”: Los Alamos Discovers Electron Buildup Creates Deadly 45-Minute Death Countdown for Space Equipment – Energy Reporters

Excerpt:

… Researchers have discovered that these Spacecraft Environment Discharges (SEDs) are closely linked to the number of electrons in the satellite’s immediate vicinity. Historical events, such as the 1994 solar storm that disabled two Canadian television satellites, illustrate the vulnerability of space equipment to these phenomena. The Los Alamos study underscores the importance of understanding electron activity and its impact on satellite reliability.

… Over a twelve-month period, the study documented hundreds of instances where high electron activity preceded SEDs. Remarkably, 75% of these discharges were preceded by a surge in electron activity, with a short lead time of thirty to forty-five minutes. This finding is significant because it suggests the possibility of developing an onboard prediction system to alert operators before a failure occurs…

The implications of the Los Alamos study are profound. With the ability to predict SEDs, future satellite missions could incorporate continuous electron monitoring systems. This proactive approach would enable operators to anticipate and potentially avert sudden electronic failures, enhancing the resilience of satellites against unpredictable space weather…

Among all the troublemaking members House Republican leaders have to deal with, Rep. Jen Kiggans isn’t on their list of problem children. That might be changing.

A former Navy helicopter pilot, nurse practitioner and mother of four, the 54-year-old Virginian is seen in the Republican Conference as something of a model member, hailing from one of the toughest swing districts in the country. She is viewed by her peers as personable and a team player. Of all the places Mike Johnson might have gone on the eve of the 2024 elections, the speaker chose to spend time with Kiggans — a strong show of leadership support for a freshman.

But Kiggans, now in her second term, has decided to stick her neck out on what’s shaping up to be one of the most politically explosive policy fights of the fall: the battle over extending boosted Affordable Care Act insurance subsidies that are due to expire on Dec. 31. Congressional budget forecasters are predicting major premium hikes if the subsidies sunset, which would force millions of people to drop health insurance coverage.

Twelve Republicans and seven Democrats are backing legislation that would enact a one-year extension of the subsidies, which are implemented in the form of enhanced tax credits. Kiggans is the lead sponsor and the GOP face of the effort.

In an interview, she called an extension good politics — and good for her constituents.

“In six weeks or so, people will get a notice that their health care premiums are going to go up by thousands of dollars,” said Kiggans. “And at the end of the year … for people that either have this type of insurance and work in small businesses, are self-employed, you know, I worry about their access to health care.”

Congress will hold a discussion next month on the application of Israeli sovereignty to Judea and Samaria, according to Yesha Council Chairman Yisrael Ganz.

“We are at a rare moment in time, with a friendly and supportive U.S. administration. This is the time to move forward with a historic step that will affect the security of the entire State of Israel,” said Ganz, who is currently in the United States promoting the sovereignty plan.

The Yesha Council is an umbrella group of local councils in Judea and Samaria.

Referring to last week’s deadly terror attack in Jerusalem, which left six people dead—including a resident of the Binyamin Regional Council—Ganz warned that unless Israeli sovereignty is extended to Judea and Samaria, “this is the reality that awaits us in Petah Tikva, Netanya and Kfar Saba.”

According to a statement, Ganz met with U.S. Representatives Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.), Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.), Barry Moore (R-Ala.) and Randy Fine (R-Fla.), along with Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.).

“In my many meetings with our good friends in the United States, one can see the support and love for Israel,” said Ganz. “This is the time for a historic step that will change the balance of power in Judea and Samaria. I call on the government of Israel: this is the imperative of the hour; we must not miss it.”

Close to a million people are facing famine in Al Fashir and surrounding camps as the RSF enforces a full blockade, launching armed attacks on volunteers and aid workers risking their lives to bring in food.

Inside the city, thousands are bombarded by almost daily shelling from surrounding RSF troops.

The RSF have physically reinforced their siege with a berm – a raised earth mound. First spotted by Yale Humanitarian Research Lab, the berm is visible from space.

A conservative George Washington University student is speaking out after an assistant campus director at George Washington University posted on social media that it was “fair” Charlie Kirk was assassinated because he supported the Second Amendment.

“If nothing else, it is fair, in a nation where children get massacred by gun violence on the regular, the people who advocate for continued gun ownership at the expense of those children are not immune from the consequences of their advocacy. No thoughts, and no prayers,” posted Anthony Pohorilak, assistant director of academic initiatives at George Washington University’s Mount Vernon campus.

He wrote the message on Facebook, according to Fox News, which first reported on the post.

Olivia D’Angelo, a GWU graduate student, told The College Fix on Saturday she is “disgusted” by Pohorilak’s post. As an undergrad at UNC Asheville, she founded and served as president of the Turning Point USA chapter there until her graduation in May 2025.

“I did this because of Charlie Kirk. His dedication to Christ and the truth of the gospel was inspiring, and I wanted to challenge politics that lead people away from God. I wanted to be like him,” D’Angelo (pictured) told The Fix via email.

She said his “brutal death” is heartbreaking for her and all those involved in the TPUSA movement.

AI could use online images as a backdoor into your computer, alarming new study suggests– www.livescience.com

Excerpt:

A website announces, “Free celebrity wallpaper!” You browse the images. There’s Selena Gomez, Rihanna and Timothée Chalamet — but you settle on Taylor Swift. Her hair is doing that wind-machine thing that suggests both destiny and good conditioner. You set it as your desktop background, admire the glow. You also recently downloaded a new artificial-intelligence-powered agent, so you ask it to tidy your inbox. Instead it opens your web browser and downloads a file. Seconds later, your screen goes dark.

But let’s back up to that agent. If a typical chatbot (say, ChatGPT) is the bubbly friend who explains how to change a tire, an AI agent is the neighbor who shows up with a jack and actually does it. In 2025 these agents — personal assistants that carry out routine computer tasks — are shaping up as the next wave of the AI revolution.

What distinguishes an AI an agent from a chatbot is that it doesn’t just talk — it acts, opening tabs, filling forms, clicking buttons and making reservations. And with that kind of access to your machine, what’s at stake is no longer just a wrong answer in a chat window: if the agent gets hacked, it could share or destroy your digital content. Now a new preprint posted to the server arXiv.org by researchers at the University of Oxford has shown that images — desktop wallpapers, ads, fancy PDFs, social media posts — can be implanted with messages invisible to the human eye but capable of controlling agents and inviting hackers into your computer.

For instance, an altered “picture of Taylor Swift on Twitter could be sufficient to trigger the agent on someone’s computer to act maliciously,” says the new study’s co-author Yarin Gal, an associate professor of machine learning at Oxford. Any sabotaged image “can actually trigger a computer to retweet that image and then do something malicious, like send all your passwords. That means that the next person who sees your Twitter feed and happens to have an agent running will have their computer poisoned as well. Now their computer will also retweet that image and share their passwords.”

LONDON — The United States will finalize a new nuclear energy agreement with British leaders during President Donald Trump‘s state visit to the United Kingdom this week.

Trump will touch down in London on Tuesday before spending Wednesday at Windsor Castle with King Charles III, capped by a lavish state banquet in the evening.

The nuclear agreement itself, which British government officials said “will turbocharge the build-out of new nuclear power stations in both countries and clear the way for a major expansion of new nuclear projects in the U.K.,” will be signed on Thursday during a slate of bilateral meetings between Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

“This landmark UK-US nuclear partnership is not just about powering our homes, it’s about powering our economy, our communities, and our ambition. These major commitments set us well on course to a golden age of nuclear that will drive down household bills in the long run, while delivering thousands of good jobs in the short term,” Starmer said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “Together with the US, we’re building a golden age of nuclear that puts both countries at the forefront of global innovation and investment.”

Trump’s energy secretary, Chris Wright, said the administration is “ushering in a true nuclear renaissance — harnessing the power of commercial nuclear to meet rising energy demand and fuel the AI revolution.”

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum added, “Strengthened nuclear cooperation with the UK reinforces our unshakable commitment to technological leadership, global security and the responsible stewardship of nuclear power. This is how we unleash the full power of American Energy Dominance — with innovation, strength, and key geopolitical collaboration.”

Possible Kirk-Related Bomb on Fox News Van Fizzled, But That’s Not the Weird Part… – PJ Media– pjmedia.com

A bomb on a local FOX 13 news van in Salt Lake City fizzled out instead of blowing up on Friday, and police have two suspects in custody. Suspected Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson is being held nearby.

It was those sneaky Lutherans again. Just kidding. The suspects’ names are Adeeb Nasir, age 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, age 31.

The story slipped under the radar over the weekend, but investigators found that the bomb “had been lit but failed to function as designed,” according to court documents revealed by CBS affiliate KUTV early Monday.

On Sunday, the FBI served a search warrant in Salt Lake’s Magna neighborhood west of downtown, but only after evacuating neighboring homes. It’s a good thing, too, since the search found explosives, explosive-related components, firearms, illegal narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.

The two Nasirs were arrested at the scene and could face charges related to weapons possession and threats of terrorism, according to local ABC News affiliate KTVX.

“There was no information about a possible motive,” according to the Associated Press, and my eyes just rolled so hard into the back of my head that I can see my brain stem in startling detail.

More seriously, Channel2Now found what appear to be social media photos of the Nasirs, and I have questions.
