Virginia Democrats Eye Court Purge After Redistricting Defeat www.standingforfreedom.com

The great gerrymandering race of 2026 is still well underway with California, Utah, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida all gearing up with new maps this year. Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi could also have new congressional maps by November after the Supreme Court’s ruling against racial gerrymandering. But national news was made last week when the Supreme Court of Virginia issued a 4-3 ruling striking down Democrats’ 10-1 congressional redistricting referendum that passed on April 21. The majority opinion was written by Justice D. Arthur Kelsey, whose term expires in January 2027 – a fact that made the ruling politically consequential, given that Virginia’s General Assembly elects state Supreme Court justices.

The ruling said what many independent legal experts had been claiming this entire time: The Democrats rushed the constitutional process and set up a voting referendum with improper procedures. Not only that, the language of the referendum was purposefully misleading. And after spending more than $70 million to campaign on this new map in Virginia, the Supreme Court of Virginia has already struck it down.

Since the ruling, Virginia Democrats have filed an emergency appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the justices to halt the Virginia Supreme Court’s decision and revive the redistricting measure before the 2026 midterms.

The woman behind the Virginia special election to effectively eliminate 4 GOP U.S. House seats is now under FBI investigation. Virginia’s State Senator L. Louise Lucas saw her offices raided, along with other businesses connected to her.

So far, only anonymous sources are cited as claiming this is connected to a corruption investigation directly linked to her. She is considered the main driver of the Virginia gerrymander election plan that is currently under legal scrutiny.

On Wednesday, FBI agents reportedly raided the office and business of state Sen. L. Louise Lucas, the Virginia legislator and prominent leader of the state’s recent redistricting effort that won Democrats four more likely seats in the House of Representatives.

The senator’s office and cannabis dispensary, located on the same block, were swarmed by armed agents, decked out in camouflage tactical gear, with an armored vehicle on the scene, as they handcuffed and detained several men who were inside the dispensary. Agents carried out several boxes from the senator’s office. And, of course, MAGA’s favorite network, Fox News, was there to break the story.

Local ABC affiliate WSET cited undisclosed sources in claiming that the raid was part of an ongoing bribery and corruption investigation against Lucas initiated under the Biden administration, but several Virginia legislators have expressed skepticism about the political motivations behind the raid.

“I am deeply concerned by today’s FBI raid,” said state legislator Don Scott, the speaker of Virginia’s House of Delegates, in a statement. “Given the politicization of this administration—an FBI led by Kash Patel and a Justice Department run by President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney—I think people should take this with a grain of salt and allow the facts to come out before jumping to conclusions.”

Scott added, “At this point, we simply do not know what this ultimately means. Right now, there is far more theatrics and speculation than actual information available to the public.”

Islamist Socialist Zohran Mamdani has chosen a police abolitionist author to be on his transition team. Alex Vitale, who wrote the book “The End of Policing,” will be working on “community safety issues.”  This follows his meeting with President Trump in the oval office where they exchanged mostly substance-less jabs with one another.

After a Jewish synagogue was harassed by a group shouting “Death to the IDF,” Mamdani blamed the victims for holding an event that offended the anti-Israel activists. His recent reiteration that he would honor “international law” over U.S. law leaves some to question whether he will try to arrest Jews wanted by the antisemitic “World Court.”

Incoming New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani doubled down on his promise to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on an international arrest warrant that is not recognized in U.S. law, setting up a potential act of rebellion against federal authority.

The mayor-elect, a self-styled socialist, has repeatedly pledged that if elected mayor, he would direct the New York Police Department (NYPD) to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should he visit the city. Mamdani has claimed that he has an obligation to do so in order to adhere to “international law,” particularly by honoring an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant against Netanyahu stemming from the conflict in Gaza.

Feds Investigating Democrats After 250 Blank Ballots Are Found In Amazon Package– trendingpoliticsnews.com

State and federal authorities in Maine are investigating a jaw-dropping case of 250 blank ballots that were delivered to a voter in an Amazon box.

The inexplicable oversight is casting a pall over the office of Shenna Bellows, the Democratic secretary of state who last year attempted to keep President Donald Trump off Maine’s presidential ballot. Authorities were made aware after the ballots were reported missing by the town of Ellsworth, and a resident later called to report that her unanticipated Amazon delivery contained them.

The box appeared to have been opened and retaped when it arrived, the woman told investigators.

“Safe and secure elections are my top priority. As soon as we became aware of allegations of ballots being received outside of the appropriate chain of custody, I immediately initiated an investigation through my Secretary of State’s law enforcement division. Law enforcement is working diligently to determine who is responsible, and they will be held accountable. We will not stop until we have answers,” Bellows said in a statement to ABC News.

“This year, it seems that there may have been attempts to interrupt the distribution of ballots and ballot materials,” Bellows said later at a press conference.

“I have full confidence that law enforcement will determine who is responsible, and any bad actor will be held accountable,” she added.

The Trump administration is planning to withhold billions of dollars from one of the nation’s largest public works projects in direct retaliation for the government shutdown, which Republicans are blaming on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and fellow Democrats.

White House budget director Russell Vought said Wednesday the administration is withholding “roughly $18 billion” from New York City infrastructure projects because of “unconstitutional DEI principles.” He specifically cited funding for the massive bistate Gateway Program, which includes a new train tunnel under the Hudson River to connect New York and New Jersey, and New York City’s Second Avenue Subway line.

… Now, in a new Quantum Insights poll of likely voters, the Ciattarelli-Sherrill matchup gets even more interesting. Sherrill’s lead is down 10 points from Labor Day, and she only maintains a lead of 2.3 points, within the margin of error. With just a few weeks left in the contest, there is plenty of time for Ciattarelli to move the race into a statistical tie, and even surpass Sherrill.

Among independent voters, Ciattarelli has increased his lead by 13 points, the most significant shift in the race since it began. Ciattarelli holds 51 percent of independents versus Sherrill’s 38 percent. In the poll question on which candidate voters trust to deliver for New Jersey, it is an even split: 50-50 for each candidate.

Spanberger has 49% support among registered Virginia voters compared to Earle-Sears’s 40% support, according to a Sept. 9 poll released by Virginia Commonwealth University’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. Two months prior, Earle-Sears had 37% support. Spanberger’s percentage remains unchanged.

The latest results suggest that while Earle-Sears has been slowly closing the gap, it may not be enough to overtake Spanberger less than two months before Election Day. Early voting in Virginia’s gubernatorial election begins on Friday, Sept. 19.

Less than half of independent voters, 48%, remain undecided about the race.

Pollster L. Douglas Wilder, the Democratic governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1994, said the election will be determined by independent and undecided voters. He also stressed the national significance of the state race this election cycle.

“With Virginia and New Jersey being the only states holding elections in November, there is much speculation as to what these results portend for the political landscape, not just for the Commonwealth, but across the nation,” Wilder said.

The poll shows other Democratic candidates leading their Republican counterparts.

Socialism: A national 'bluff'

Poll: Capitalism is out … and socialism is in– www.politico.com

The socialist brand is on the rise, according to recent polling, fueling the left flank of the Democratic Party to argue its ideology is becoming more mainstream.

Shortly after Gallup released data showing Democrats and independents are cooling toward capitalism, a progressive organization is out with a poll finding that more than half of likely Democratic voters prefer socialist-aligned figures like Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani to establishment politicians like Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jefrries and Nancy Pelosi.

Democratic voters also view elected officials who describe themselves as democratic socialists about as positively as those who identify as Democrats, and they prefer democratic socialism to capitalism when written definitions of each are read aloud to them, according to the poll conducted by Data for Progress and shared first with POLITICO.

“What the mainstream of the party wants is both democratic socialism as a value system and democratic socialist politicians,” said Gabe Tobias, executive director of the Democratic Socialists of America Fund, a political nonprofit organization that funded the survey with the magazine Jacobin and the Berlin-based democratic socialist group Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

Though Democratic voters are warming to socialism, the ideology is toxic to most Republicans and many independents, making it difficult for socialists to win in battlegrounds. Even within the Democratic Party, some voters are skeptical about the electability of democratic socialists in swing areas, a reality Sanders faced during his two unsuccessful presidential runs.
