A student conference organized by CAIR-Texas to be held at Southern Methodist University has been canceled, with campus officials citing a proclamation from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott designating CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as “terrorist” organizations.

The “Unapologetically Muslim: Youth in Action” conference for high school and college students had been slated for Sept. 19 at the Dallas-based campus.

In a statement provided to local media, a campus spokesperson said “SMU welcomes a wide range of organizations and perspectives to campus as part of our commitment to open inquiry and the free exchange of ideas.”

However, after “reviewing plans for an upcoming unaffiliated youth leadership symposium advertised to take place at SMU, the University has determined that permitting the event to take place on campus, given the State of Texas’ current designation of the symposium’s organizer, is inconsistent with our mission and related University policies. As a result, the event will not take place on campus,” the statement read.

The event was slated to include “interactive sessions,” “mock testimony,” and “power mapping,” according to an online flier. Power mapping is a community organizing tool used to influence political leaders by pressuring the people and systems around them.

“Designed for high school students and rising college freshmen and sophomores, MYLS brings together young Muslims from across Texas for a full day focused on leadership and civic engagement,” CAIR-Texas’ website states.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) called for a “COVID reckoning,” saying officials involved in the government’s pandemic response must be exposed and held accountable.

“I think it’s crucial that we have a COVID reckoning,” Johnson said during the Fight Club Roundtable hosted by Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow and Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle. “These people need to be held accountable.”

Johnson said public exposure may be the most significant form of accountability because criminal prosecutions would be difficult. He accused officials of avoiding written records and destroying emails that could have documented their actions.

“They didn’t leave much of a trail,” Johnson said. “They learned how to destroy emails. They didn’t memorialize things in emails. They’re not that stupid. So it’s going to be difficult.”

Johnson said his staff is reviewing roughly one million pages of material and continues to uncover information from new devices. He said investigators are organizing the records rather than releasing them all at once.

“We keep finding more things, trying to reveal that and expose it in an organized fashion so it actually makes sense to people rather than just dumping it on the public,” he said.

Johnson added that investigators must withhold some documents while interviewing witnesses so those involved do not know what evidence the committee has obtained.

Homeland Security Investigations will launch what officials are calling a “coordinated criminal voter fraud surge initiative” beginning September 1. The effort is expected to run through mid-October and will involve investigators pursuing leads, interviewing individuals and preparing potential cases for prosecutors, according to internal federal guidance reviewed by CNN,

Nine states are expected to see investigative action: California, Connecticut, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wisconsin. The deployment marks another significant escalation in the Trump administration’s effort to investigate allegations involving noncitizens who may have illegally registered or cast ballots.

HSI, an investigative arm of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, traditionally focuses on crimes including human trafficking, drug smuggling and child exploitation. Under President Donald Trump, however, the agency has increasingly been tasked with election-related investigations, particularly cases involving suspected noncitizen voting.

The timing is notable. The initiative will take place as states move closer to November’s midterm elections, when control of Congress will be decided.

Historically, federal prosecutors have been discouraged from taking highly visible investigative steps close to elections if those actions could affect campaigns or voting. That Justice Department policy does not directly bind DHS, however, and the internal DHS guidance reportedly makes no mention of those traditional timing concerns.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Monday, August 31, that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is removing 110 commercial driver’s license training schools from the federal Training Provider Registry and issuing notices of proposed removal to more than 160 additional schools, a combined total of about 270 locations. The removals come as the Trump Administration continues to crack down on illegal aliens operating commercial vehicles on American roads.

The 110 schools must immediately stop administering curricula, using training facilities, and conducting behind-the-wheel instruction. Officials said those providers were linked to more than 5,000 drivers later cited for failing English-language proficiency checks during roadside inspections.

Each of the 110 schools had passed at least 10 such drivers, according to a press release from the Justice Department.

Duffy described the first group as the largest sources of those violations. “Today, what we are announcing is an emergency executive shutdown of 110 driving schools,” he said. “These are driving schools that account for 5,000 of the violations for English proficiency.”

The secretary went on to stress the administration’s emphasis on English proficiency tests that have often been ignored by many of the affected locations. “You have to speak English to operate a commercial motor vehicle. I didn’t create that rule. President Trump didn’t create that rule. That rule has been in place for decades,” he noted.

For the additional 160 locations that were given notices of proposed removal, Duffy cited inadequate space for required maneuvers, unlicensed instructors, missing documentation, and classrooms that did not meet federal standards.

In a 5-4 ruling, the Court found that the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States did not have standing to file the suit in the first place, on which lower courts had based their decisions.

To the contrary, we have repeatedly held that mere offense, disagreement, or distaste does not qualify as a concrete and particularized injury under Article III [of the Constitution]. As we have put it, ‘this Court has long made clear that distress at or disagreement with the activities of others is not a basis under Article III for a plaintiff to bring a federal lawsuit.’”

Adopting the Trust’s view of what constitutes a legal injury “would seemingly usher in a world where virtually every citizen had standing to challenge virtually every government action that they do not like,” the majority wrote.

The justices added, “Today, we do not pass upon the legality of the government’s East Wing project. We conclude only that, based on the submissions before us, the government is likely to prevail in showing that the Trust lacks Article III standing to challenge the project in federal court and that the remaining stay factors favor relief.”

Earlier this month, Chief Justice John Roberts placed a stay on a lower court ruling blocking the project from moving forward, indicating the full Supreme Court would be taking up the matter.

However, in Monday’s ruling, Roberts sided with dissenting liberal justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson, concluding Trump did not have the authority to undertake the project.

The backlash was so severe that Boshra had to reverse course and wrote a post on the editor’s blog, saying “After reviewing our current language guidance, we have decided to adjust it to clarify that direct attribution is not required for describing the historic events of 9/11 as terrorism.” He said in the post that the memo “has caused significant concern, anger and hurt for many people who believe CBC News seeks to minimize or obscure the horror of that day and who was behind it” and that this was “the last thing we want to do.”

“I can confirm that earlier today U.S. forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces ​were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into Strait ​of Hormuz,” a U.S. official said, according to Reuters.

The attack was the first from the United States since late July.

The First Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled against the judge who sided with a school district in forbidding parents from wearing “XX” wristbands to protest males playing in female sports.

Over a year ago, U.S. District Court Judge Steven McAuliffe sided with New Hampshire’s Bow School District in asserting the wristbands were “demeaning,” “harassing,” and “intimidating” to a boy playing on an opponent’s girls’ soccer team.

McAuliffe said the parents had “acted within their First Amendment rights to protest,” but that school officials “acted within their legal authority to restrict” them as school sporting events are “limited public forums.”

The judge further claimed the wristbands could “reasonably be understood as directly assaulting those who identify as transgender women” (emphasis added).

But this past Wednesday the First Circuit said Bow School District officials “cannot favor one side of a debate involving parental speech on an issue of prominent public concern, and which, in those parents’ views, concerned the safety of their children.”

“The school’s legitimate interest in regulating certain kinds of speech on the playing field sidelines, however, is not demonstrated by the evidence in this record,” the First Circuit’s decision reads. “There is no evidence that appellants’ protest caused a material disruption.

There was no disruption until school officials chose to intervene, after which the referee suspended the game for approximately fifteen minutes and the school officials chose to impose restrictions on appellants’ speech and impose sanctions. The appellants did not stage any pregame demonstrations; did not march, shout, chant, or otherwise disrupt the game; and did not confront [the transgender athlete] or any other player. Instead, they waited until halftime before donning the “XX” wristbands in a passive, silent gesture of protest. There is also no evidence of harassment, given there is no evidence in the record that any player actually saw the wristbands.

In an Aug. 18 letter obtained by Fox News’ Bill Melugin, the state bar shot down a request to probe DHS General Counsel James Percival. The organization said that it does not “investigate or prosecute sitting officers appointed under the U.S. Constitution while they are in office,” and that such prospective actions “could encroach on the authority of the federal government concerning these officials and the exercise of their duties.”

As The Federalist previously reported, the left-wing Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF), Lawyers Defending American Democracy, and 128 former state and federal judges filed the Aug. 18 complaint against Percival because of a July 23 X thread. In his posts, Percival described rogue judges’ overreaching actions in several immigration-related cases involving the administration and how they conflicted with its policy agenda.

The left-wing groups and former judges claimed that Percival’s posts and accompanying media commentary on the subject “constitute[d] serious professional misconduct.” In demanding an investigation, they further accused him of “threaten[ing] the rule of law and increas[ing] the risk of violence against judges.”

The leftists’ complaint prompted pushback from Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who asked the Florida Bar to dismiss the “meritless” complaint last week. The bill is facing pushback from insurance companies, which argue it largely repeats an earlier California law requiring insurers to disclose past policies issued to slaveholders that covered the death or injury of enslaved people.

New York Life Insurance Company, Aetna Life Insurance Company and American International Group, known as AIG, were among the companies that disclosed ties to enslaved people and slaveholders.

Some reparations advocates have viewed the measure as a significant step forward, while others have questioned how much of an impact it would actually have.

The bill, known as Assembly Bill 2599, would require companies with more than $100 million in annual worldwide sales to search their records for evidence that they, their predecessors or subsidiaries bought or sold enslaved people or provided financial support for those transactions, including through insurance or loans.

The measure would only take effect if the Legislature sets aside funding for it, a requirement added through late amendments.

Once funding is allocated, the California Civil Rights Department would be required to create a digital platform for the disclosures.

Ontario officials are cracking down on American alcohol so aggressively that even a grocery store display of California wine sparked a government response after a citizen tipped off local media.

“We were alerted to this by a viewer who said a store in Kemptville had set up a full display in the front of the beer and wine section, prominently selling wine from California,” CTV News anchor Dylan Dyson reported.

“I saw the wine on display this morning, and within hours of contacting Loblaw, the dusty U.S. bottles were pulled from the shelves once again.

“When CTV News reached out to Loblaw, the parent company of the independent grocer chain, it said the wine was put on the shelves without the approval of the store owner,” he continued.

“And once identified, it was removed immediately,” he added.

“I don’t know why they would do it,” one resident told cameras in response to the store having American wine on their shelves.

Ontario’s minister of finance responded as well, saying, “We have been clear — US alcohol will remain off shelves. We expect all retailers, including this grocer, to follow the rules.”

According to the CTV News Ottawa report, the incident helped in “reigniting shoppers’ patriotism amid trade tensions with Donald Trump and the United States.”

The Daily Wire reports that the governor’s proposed updates, which span more than 500 pages, replace instances of “woman” with “individual” and refer to new mothers as “postpartum individuals,” ostensibly to leave room to recognize the ultimately-fictional concept of “pregnant men” – as explained by a notorious 2021 opinion from the left-wing American College of Gynecologists and Obstetricians that “Some postpartum [so-called] transgender individuals may not identify as ‘mothers;’ thus, obstetrician–gynecologists and other health care professionals should be mindful of the language they use.”

“Somehow, in the midst of hundreds of pages of new government mandates, the department also found it necessary to erase words like ‘pregnant woman’ and ‘mother’ in the regulations and replace them with terms like ‘pregnant individual,’” responded Republican state Sen. Michele Brooks.

“The changing of language in the regulations represents the triumph of ideology over biology,” said Independence Law Center chief counsel Randall Wenger. “This change of language doesn’t reflect reality; it obscures it. It erases female identity as a stable category in favor of a fluid concept of gender. The Shapiro administration is so concerned with affirming transgender identity that it can no longer recognize the realities of biological sex. The department cannot pretend to fight dangerous diseases with its delusions about gender.”

Flock cameras are automated license-plate reader (ALPR) systems made by Flock Safety that use cameras and software to capture vehicle images, read plate numbers, and alert participating law-enforcement agencies to vehicles linked to investigations or watch lists.

Their use has expanded rapidly in cities, neighborhoods, and businesses as a tool for locating stolen cars, missing people, and suspects. Data is shared through large regional networks that enable agencies to exchange information.

Flock cameras have now joined data centers as the focus of concern and complaint. Critics argue that the systems enable warrantless tracking of ordinary drivers, can be misused or accessed without adequate oversight, and may disproportionately target “marginalized communities.”

One of the biggest concerns regarding ALPRs is how they both create and reinforce racially biased policing. My colleagues, Drs. Jonny Finn and Andrew Baird, and I recently completed a landmark geospatial analysis titled “Surveillance Inequality: Race, Poverty, and the Geography of ALPR Deployment.”

Our study of 614 cameras in the Hampton Roads area found that race and class are the primary predictors of where these cameras are placed. (It is worth noting that Hampton Roads officials did not release the locations of these ALPRs willingly; they were forced to do so by a federal judge.) The ALPRs completely encircle Norfolk State University, the region’s only public HBCU, for instance.

These devices have also become the target of vandalism.

The Dallas Police Department says there has been an increase in Flock cameras being destroyed.

“We lose that visibility and that investigative value from those cameras that are vandalized,” said Sgt. Adam Reinhart.

At least 25 Flock cameras have been vandalized so far, Reinhart says.

“It’s become popular to cut down Flock cameras. And so we’re just seeing that trend here in Dallas. Along with, you know, throughout the country,” he explained.

Trump’s former first-term Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sparked controversy in 2020 after he defied the department’s precedent by delivering a prerecorded speech to the Republican National Convention.

At the time, the State Department told Politico that Pompeo’s address was “in his personal capacity,” and that “No State Department resources will be used.”

Rubio himself acknowledged the constraints of his job during a 2025 interview with Lara Trump, saying there are “rules against me being involved in domestic politics.”

The policy makes it unlikely Rubio will attend the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention set for September. Both Trump and Vice President JD Vance are set to deliver speeches at the two-day convention in Dallas, Texas.

A former Rubio aide told the Washington Examiner that staying away from domestic politics likely fits the secretary of state just fine because he “loves his current jobs” in the Trump administration.

Earlier this week, a left-wing organization calling itself “The Michigan Independent” ran a piece on El-Sayed’s Senate primary win in August, the Washington Free Beacon reported. The Michigan Independent favors Democrats and claimed that El-Sayed served in the military.

One of the Michigan Independent pieces contains a headline saying “El-Sayed — veteran, doctor, and former health official — is Democratic Senate pick.”

El-Sayed isn’t a veteran, and he’s never practiced as a physician. Jay Murray, a writer from the Michigan Enjoyer, quickly exposed the fake news. Then, a national outlet noticed the apparent error that benefited El-Sayed’s campaign.

Rivera Flores has not voted in an election. The voter registration was dated November 4, 2025.

Authorities believe Rivera Flores intended to vote in November.

James seemed to rattle Brennan, who was apparently caught off guard, and then acted confused, as if she had never heard this issue raised before, or as if she had never heard of Piker. She also seemed to label Benson as a senate candidate, which is of course incorrect:

Oh, wow. I want to ask you about some issues with your platform and the like, but never forget, of course. I’m sorry, did you just accuse Senate candidates of something to do with terrorism? I’m not clear what you just said?

“Senate candidates?” “Something to do with terrorism?” She refused to mention both El-Sayed, or Piker, who, maybe someone should inform Brennan.

So here we go. Piker recently said that American Jews who support Israel, are responsible for bringing about acts of anti-Semitism, causing a rebuke from House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and has along history of verbally attacking Jews.
