France has ordered curfews as it tries to quell violent riots that have sparked days of ferocious street clashes across the country.

Protestors were told public gatherings would be banned from 8pm this evening in certain towns after blazes were ignited and businesses were looted in in Paris, Lyon and other cities over the weekend. Marseille has already hit protestors with a curfew, but they are expected to be rolled out to cover districts of Paris and other cities hit by violence.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said he could not rule out the implementation of a state of emergency if the violence continued but added: “Curfews seem better adapted.”

PARIS — France’s interior minister offered his resignation over the weekend’s rioting and looting in several major cities, but President Emmanuel Macron asked him to stay to respond to police needs in an emergency situation, Macron’s office said Monday.

Macron refused Laurent Nuñez’s resignation “given the need for continued command of law enforcement in the current context,” according to the statement.

He instructed Nuñez “to take all necessary steps to ensure full transparency about the failures in planning and intelligence-gathering that led to the violence,” Macron’s office said.

Macron also asked for the introduction of “new policing tactics on the ground as quickly as possible” to put an end to violent events.

On Sunday evening, groups of people set fires to trash bins, bicycles and other objects in the streets and looted businesses in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and other cities, a day after major violence erupted Saturday during nationwide protests against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools. At least 2,400 people were arrested across the country.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday voiced the public’s “anger” and “shame” over rioting and looting during nationwide protests against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools. At least 2,400 people were arrested.

Macron echoed other government officials in blaming much of the violence on far-left activists, accusing them of attacking police and public buildings to foment chaos.

“Those who looted will have to pay for the damage, and those who sought to bring down the Republic will be held accountable,” Macron said in a televised address to the nation.

He denounced “unrestrained violence” by “insurrectionist elements from radical far-left groups, joined by numerous criminals.”

Macron earlier held an emergency meeting with senior government officials, a day after masked groups set fires and attacked city halls in several cities. He said he had instructed prefects to work with mayors to protect public buildings and businesses in the coming weeks, including by banning protests when necessary.

New Delhi:

Major protests have been reported from many countries in recent days, with some of them continuing to simmer and spread. From France to Argentina, many of these protests seemed to be over issues that have been commonly seen in nearly every nation, issues such as economic strain linked to housing costs, inflation, public-service funding and anti-incumbency.

France and Albania at the moment face the most serious challenges to their policies from wave after wave of protesters, leading to situations that could spread like wildfire. We look at some of these protests.

Massive protests have broken out in France due to two reasons concerning government policies linked to anger over high prices ahead of the presidential election, and a massive student and teacher movement protesting school conditions as well as education funding cuts. The election will put the curtains down on President Emmanuel Macron since the country’s laws make him ineligible to contest any more.

The France student crisis began last month as a small, localised protest to demand education funding by both teachers and students in Paris before it spread to a larger area. Violent clashes have been reported ever since the protest began, with classes disrupted in many areas.

Far-Left Rioters Destroy Historic French Landmark Amid Weeks-Long Riots– trendingpoliticsnews.com

A combination of predominantly African Muslim and leftist rioters destroyed a historic French landmark amid month-long nationwide riots that are supposedly about “education.”

In Limoges, the 1883 Hôtel de Ville, a listed neo-Renaissance building inspired by Paris City Hall and standing approximately 141 feet at its central clock tower, was set alight by masked individuals after a march. The roof collapsed onto lower floors except the west wing, two-thirds of the exterior was destroyed, and the hand-crafted clock tower ultimately collapsed into the blaze.

Local prefect Maurice Barate described the result as a “heritage catastrophe.” The structure, which had survived two world wars, was assessed as largely lost.

In Lyon, a branch of the city tourism office occupying an 1852 pavilion on Place Bellecour was looted and burned. Hooded individuals dressed in black first accessed the roof, removed signage letters, then entered the building and ignited a fire. Fire crews were delayed by hostile groups throwing projectiles and fireworks.

Mayor Grégory Doucet called the loss a tragedy for an iconic, well-known historic structure. The building had served as a visitor facility after interior renovation in 2015.

Scenes of extraordinary lawlessness in France today. Rioters battered their way through the doors of Marseille City Hall, stormed the building, smashed furniture and toppled a bust of Marianne, the very symbol of the French Republic. Their battle cry: “It’s the Revolution, we’re taking the Bastille.” Palestinian flags were visible among demonstrators as violence spread through French cities. A municipal police station was also attacked, shops were vandalized, and riot police deployed tear gas. Storming government buildings and attacking police are acts of political violence, not peaceful protest. President Macron called for calm before the violence erupted. The question now is what his government will do to restore order.

On Thursday, MS NOW’s Money, Power, Politics with Stephanie Ruhle actually discussed the “student protests” in France that have turned violent and made it about the state of the economy around the world. MS NOW analyst Ayman Mohyeldin, who no longer has a show on the network, took the discussion of the French protests to implore Americans to protest like the French, which he said they have “unfortunately” not done.

Ruhle was the first to connect French protests to economic problems, as she said, “Like, you can tie all of this together. Enormous economic frustrations that people are feeling.” She added, “We are seeing country after country start to say, this system just don’t work anymore.”

Ruhle tied to the thought to frequent panelist Eddie Glaude: “And it’s actually Eddie who’s been saying to me for years, ‘No, people want to break the system’. And I’m like, ‘No, Eddie, everything is fine.’ And I’m saying that from a very privileged seat. As we’re watching, scores of voters say no to the system, to both parties.”

“AREN’T BEING HEARD”

While most of the protests have been peaceful, students say they are determined to press the government to address the problems of too many absent teachers, dilapidated buildings, overcrowded class schedules and other grievances.

“Students aren’t being heard enough… not their proposals to authorities and elected officials,” a 19-year-old graphic design student in Paris, Leo, said.

He added that the protesters – many of whom were minors – were “disturbed by the level of repression never before seen for a student movement”.

One young protester lost a hand from a police stun grenade earlier in the protests, another lost many of his teeth from a tear-gas canister fired in his face at close range, and another lost an eye.

Rights groups and students have accused the police of a disproportionate use of force.

Several police officers and teachers have also been hurt, and on Monday authorities said fireworks fired through a tube injured two school workers in Reims, one school worker in a Paris suburb and a police officer outside a school in Marseille.

Tuesday’s demonstrations supporting the students were to be followed on Saturday by wider public rallies against the rising cost of living.

Naila, a 17-year-old student in the city of Rennes who said she would participate in Tuesday’s demonstration, hoped it would “converge” with the wider one on Saturday.

President Emmanuel Macron, speaking to reporters on Monday, said the pupils’ grievances would take time to address and urged restraint from protesters.

“These are issues that deserve time, consultations, discussion and respect,” Macron said.

A. GLOBAL OUTLOOK

  1. BIDEN’S DOJ STALKED PARENTS OPPOSED TO WOKE SCHOOLS – Parents who dared speak out against progressive policies in American public schools were tracked and harassed by the FBI. If you dared go to a school board meeting and speak out against pro-transgender policies, or gay porn in school libraries, Biden’s FBI viewed you as a national security risk.

U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon stated, “Under the Biden Administration, parents were the enemy. They were labeled as terrorists, targeted, and investigated by a government weaponized against them. That era is over. The Trump Administration is acting with unprecedented energy and purpose to restore parents’ natural rights as the primary protectors of their children.”

  1. JACK SMITH WAS SPYING ON EVERYONE – A new document drop by the White House Government Transparency Task Force has revealed “special prosecutor” Jack Smith was spying on almost everyone in the Trump inner circle, including his lawyers. He did this by monitoring the phone of the President’s key administrative organizer and coordinator, Susie Wiles. She is currently President Trump’s Chief of Staff.
  2. SHARIA GAINING FAVOR AMONG AMERICAN YOUTH – Thanks in large part to great efforts by progressive-controlled government schools promoting Islam and excoriating Christianity, a new poll reveals 4 in 10 young Americans have a favorable view of Sharia, Islamic Law.

The poll indicts the public education system, which has fallen to insurrectionist progressives. These “teachers” are more aligned with Chairman Mao and Osama Bin Laden than they are with George Washington and Jesus Christ.

  1. FRANCE ISLAMIST-PROGRESSIVE RIOTS CONTINUE – Under the guise of “education reform,” which is mostly demanding more resources and creating policies aligned with the Progressive-Islamist alliance, riots across France in most major cities continue unabated. So far, more than 5,000 people have been arrested.
  2. IN WAKE OF MASS “MIGRANT INVASION,” SPAIN’S PM FORCED TO CALL SNAP ELECTIONS – Spaniards are joining the growing national protests against their country’s policies of open borders and the state’s attempt to destroy their national identity. The pressure is mounting on the regime in power, the progressives. They rule under their current Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, who rules thanks to a coalition of leftists.

His own party fared worse than the pro-Spanish party in the last election (which finished first but was kept out of power by the far-left coalition). Now, Sanchez must call a Snap election before any hope of winning another election (if he even makes it to that point) dies as the resistance to his Spain-hating policies grows.

  1. SOMALI TEEN PLOTTED MASS MURDER IN MALL OF AMERICA – The FBI caught another wanna-be terrorist before they could act by first seemingly enabling their actions. Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, an 18-year-old Somali American, was arrested and accused of plotting to kill Americans in the Mall of America. He was going to use an AK-47 and 200 rounds of ammo. The teen purchased the inert AK-47, and the ammo, from the FBI. This is how the arrest was made.

The DOJ released a statement that, in part, exclaimed, “The FBI rendered the AK-47 rifle inert prior to the transaction. During the sale of the firearm and ammunition, Mohamud reaffirmed his plan to use the firearm and ammunition to shoot people at the Mall of America”

  1. CCP AGENT CAUGHT SPYING ON TAIWANESE AMERICANS – The DOJ has arrested Wanying “Heather” Zeng, 34, under charges she was spying on Taiwanese Americans for the Chinese government. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg declared, “The central allegation here – that Zhang, at the behest of the People’s Republic of China, covertly surveilled relatives of a high-ranking foreign government official in the United States – is deeply troubling…”

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli added, “Ms. Zhang is charged with acting at the direction of Chinese government officials to spy on the family of a senior Taiwanese official here in the United States. She violated our laws and will be held accountable in our courts. We will aggressively investigate and prosecute illegal foreign operations on American soil.”

  1. HAMAS SUPPORTERS MARCH ON OCTOBER 7 – Hamas supporters in London decided to march on the 3rd anniversary of the October 7 slaughter of innocent Israelis by the organization they are marching for. The march was not seen as racist by British police, despite it clearly sending a message to the Jews that they’re still next. It is an embrace of the slaughter of the Jewish race, nothing more.

B. HEADLINES MISSED

  1. ANTHROPIC WANTS TO MERGE WITH THE PRESIDENT – Anthropic has launched a “presidential engagement” project in preparation for the 2028 Presidential election. They plan on engaging with major U.S. presidential candidates on AI policy to determine their political strategy. From this, their political funding strategy would follow. It’s a transparent “buy influence” program being advertised in advance ahead of the 2028 elections. It is projected Anthropic will be a $2 trillion plus venture. With no limits on campaign finance, this will make Anthropic an instant President maker.
  2. UK SUPPORTS GLOBAL HATE SPEECH CRACKDOWN – The UK is coming out in support of a UN resolution demanding worldwide action to prevent hate speech. The Burnham administration declared, “… we, the UK, thank the African Group for bringing forward this resolution and pay particular tribute to South Africa for their principled leadership in keeping the fight against racism high on the international agenda.”
  3. CHINA ENTERS LAOS – China has sent a military convoy into the border nation of Laos, which is raising concerns of Laotians who have bad memories of colonization from world powers. The military is being moved into a permanent “Training Center,” which is raising even more red flags among the local population.
  4. WOMAN ALMOST SUICIDED BY CANADA FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO COOK – A woman who was depressed because she felt she could no longer cook for her family was approved for suicide by Canadian doctors. Fortunately, she was talked out of it, but not by the doctors, who may have wanted to profit from her organs.

Canada’s embrace of euthanasia, which was supposed to be a measure of last resort for the truly terminally and pain-ridden ill, has led it to expand the reasons people can apply for state-assisted suicide. We can add to that growing list not being able to cook for your family. Now, even euthanasia supporters are raising the alarm on Canada’s seemingly careless reliance on suicide to cure its social and economic woes.

C. PEOPLE ADVANCE

  1. TRUMP TARGETS MAJOR U.S. CORPORATIONS IN FOREIGN VISA CRACKDOWN – Vice President JD Vance announced the Trump administration’s new restrictions on the H-1B Visa program. These new restrictions effectively end U.S. corporate reliance on “cheap foreign labor” for high-level positions, which effectively freeze Americans out of higher potential seats of power.
  2. CNN FALLS TO MAGA? – The merger deal between Paramount and Warner Brothers has now officially gone through, meaning a Trump-supporting family, the Ellisons, OFFICIALLY hold the reins of power of CNN, the progressive state cable news flagship.

The current head of CNN, Mark Thompson, said of the merger, “First, I’m convinced that from David Ellison on down, Paramount Skydance leadership really does believe in news alongside entertainment as a top strategic opportunity for our new company… And second, having now spoken to them at length of the topic, I have real confidence that they both understand and will fully support the principle and practice of the kind of independent news that CNN has always stood for.”

  1. AS FOREIGN APPLICATIONS DRY UP, UNIVERSITIES LOWER TUITION FOR AMERICANS – After a dramatic reduction in foreign customers for U.S. universities, the consequence for Americans is lower tuition. Universities needing American customers are now lowering their tuition prices to get them. Several private schools struggling to exist are now lowering their tuition by 40-50% to win back American customers.
  2. PASTOR FREED AFTER BEING ARRESTED FOR HAVING 24/7 CHURCH – An Ohio Pastor has seen his conviction for opening his church 24/7 overturned by the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals. The defendant, Pastor Chris Avell, faced “fire code charges” and jail time for keeping his church open 24/7.

His counsel, Ryan Gardner, said of the ruling, “Pastor Chris has the constitutional right to operate his church free from the government imposing draconian fire code regulations. We hope that this latest ruling will put an end to the years-long legal battle that Pastor Chris has endured. We are grateful to all the work of our co-counsels in this case.”

  1. DOJ TO LET SUPPRESSOR RULING STAND – The Department of Justice has informed congress it will not be appealing a lower court decision that struck down federal regulations on firearms suppressors. The ruling only applies to the states in the jurisdiction of the court.

Under the guise of “education reform,” which is mostly demanding more resources and creating policies aligned with the Progressive-Islamist alliance, riots across France in most major cities continue unabated. So far, more than 5,000 people have been arrested.

France Youth Riots Manipulated by Far-Left Mélenchon Party: Paris Police– www.breitbart.com

EXCERPT:

A report from the Paris Police’s intelligence branch has reportedly found that radical presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s far-left La France Insoumise party instigated the youth riots which plunged much of the country into chaos this week.

Over 5,000 people were arrested this week as mayhem broke out around the so-called student actions at over a thousand high schools across France, in which multicultural youths ran roughshod, engaging in mindless destruction and wanton violence, including attacks on police and innocent bystanders, arson, and vandalism

According to Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, some 85 per cent of the arrests made during the riots were under the age of 18.

However, a report from the Paris Police Prefect claimed that other forces were likely pulling the strings behind the scenes, finding that “the origins of the movement clearly lie in the manipulation of student union structures and political movements close to the far left.”

The report, obtained by Le Figaro, claimed that members of political organisations such as the Young Revolutionary Communists and the La France Insoumise (LFI/France in Rebellion) party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon may have a “strategy of igniting unrest on the part of the most radical union and political structures to impose their ideas as national elections approach.”

While the students largely displayed “a clear desire for disorder, notably through the commission of urban violence, without any specific social demands,” the police report said that “clearly, high school students are being pushed into these actions by far-left elements identified both within student union structures at Paris 8 University (Le Poing levé, FSE), or Paris Nanterre (FSE).”

She called for protests to continue Thursday with “larger-scale demonstrations next week”.

The students have asked for a direct meeting with Lecornu to present what they have said are costed proposals to address their demands.

Hundreds of students, police and teaching staff have been injured since the protests began, and more than 6,500 people – mostly minors – have been arrested.

While many rallies have been peaceful, some demonstrators have started fires, destroyed bus shelters or clashed with riot police.

A 15-year-old lost a hand on Monday after police fired a stun grenade, and Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told radio broadcaster RTL early Wednesday that he had suspended the police use of stun grenades in response.

France’s Threat to the World’s Government Bond Market | American Enterprise Institute– www.aei.org
News Source
EXCERPT:

Mark Twain is said to have observed that while history may not repeat itself, it certainly rhymes. We would do well to bear this in mind as we watch France’s government bond-market crisis unfold. As with the 1997–98 Asian financial crisis and the 2010 eurozone sovereign debt crisis, the turmoil in France’s bond market could quickly spread to other countries that share some of its basic weaknesses. That risk looks especially acute at a time when Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States all appear to have unsustainable public finances.

In 1997, the Thai currency devaluation triggered a wave of devaluations across Asia, including in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Korea. Similarly, the 2010 Greek debt crisis set off sovereign debt crises in Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. In both cases, contagion spread for two reasons: The initial crisis put a spotlight on other countries with similar weaknesses, and traders who lost money on positions in the first country were forced to liquidate positions elsewhere.

Today, France, Europe’s second-largest economy, appears to be on the cusp of a full-blown government bond crisis. Its $4 trillion government bond market is roughly eight times the size of Greece’s. Since the start of the year, French 10-year government bond yields have soared from around 3.5 percent to almost 5 percent. That is the largest increase among the G7 countries, and it has pushed the spread between French and German bonds to its widest since the 2010 eurozone crisis.

There are at least three reasons to believe that France’s crisis will deepen in the months ahead. First, the country’s public finances are unsustainable. Second, its dysfunctional politics prevent it from addressing its budget deficit. Third, its sclerotic economy is being hit by several external shocks that could tip it into recession.

Years of budget profligacy have pushed public spending to a staggering 57 percent of GDP, while the public debt-to-GDP ratio has climbed from 80 percent in 2010 to almost 120 percent today. Meanwhile, a French Ministry of Finance study suggests that, on present policies, the budget deficit will rise from 5.4 percent of GDP in 2026 to 6.8 percent by 2030, worsening an already troubling debt sustainability problem.

The protests began in late September in the Paris suburbs over missing teachers, overcrowded classes, and rundown buildings before spreading nationwide. By early October, they had produced fires, clashes, tear gas, and thousands of arrests.

In its weekend interview with Rougé, Vatican News reported more than 5,000 arrests since the previous Monday and millions of euros in damage, with a further massive day of protests already called for on Tuesday, October 6.

Reporting a day earlier, AgenSIR, an Italian Catholic news agency, cited more than 300 injured police officers and nearly 2,000 arrests, and noted Education Minister Édouard Geffray’s statement that 40 of 65 injured public-school employees were principals.

Earlier today, as blockades and marches continued, Reuters reported police firing tear gas in Strasbourg, Lyon, and Rennes, Interior Ministry figures of 6,100 arrests since the protests began (overwhelmingly minors), and at least 715 officers and 215 teenagers injured.

The scene, ripped right from the medieval crusades or the Jacobins’ 18th-century Reign of Terror, occurred at Nicolas Louis Vauquelin vocational high school, located in the 13th Arrondissement in southeast Paris.

The spot is roughly three miles from tourist-heavy spots like the Notre Dame Cathedral, which itself was reopened in December 2024 after six years of restoration following a devastating fire, reportedly caused by an electrical short-circuit or discarded cigarette.

It was not immediately apparent whether the arson attack on the school resulted in any injuries.

According to the translation of a report from BFM, about 100 students were forced to seek shelter in another part of the school as the fire blocked the entrance.

School principal Carole Zerbib said the incident happened around the start of the school day on Monday, as “a group of a dozen young hooded, masked and all dressed in black” showed up.

“They looked very determined, very fast, and we immediately realized that we were not going to be able to argue with them,” Zerbib said.

PARIS: France has suspended the use of stun grenades by police at student-led demonstrations, the interior minister said Wednesday (Oct 7), as allegations of police brutality mounted after days of sometimes violent demonstrations across the country.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across France on Tuesday demanding better conditions in high schools, which prompted President Emmanuel Macron to hold an emergency meeting with Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu and other key ministers to find a way out of the crisis.

Lecornu will make a public address later Wednesday on the school protests as well as the country’s finances, his office said.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez meanwhile told radio broadcaster RTL early Wednesday that he had suspended the police’s use of stun grenades at the protests.

A 15-year-old lost a hand on Monday after police fired a stun grenade.

And a 14-year-old student in northwest Paris was hit in the face with a tear gas grenade at such close range that he lost several teeth. A policeman was charged Tuesday over that incident.

Police have opened 18 internal investigations into allegations of misconduct since the protests began, Nunez said.

Paris:

Police fired tear gas to control crowds in Paris and elsewhere in France on Tuesday as more than a quarter of a million people rallied nationwide to support high school students demanding more education funding, according to government figures. The protests increased pressure on the administration of outgoing President Emmanuel Macron.

As pupils blockaded high schools, large crowds waving flags and placards gathered in Marseille, Strasbourg and other cities. The demonstrations showed how protests that began at a high school in the Paris region in mid-September have grown into a nationwide movement – the latest of many that have marked Macron’s nearly decade-long tenure.

“We need to listen to them,” said Lea Monimart, an adult demonstrator in the northern city of Lille. “They are 17 years old; they are not completely clueless, and they know what they are talking about. It’s important to show that there are adults who support them.”

The Interior Ministry estimated that 266,000 people took part in demonstrations across the country on Tuesday, including 56,000 in Paris, where small groups of protesters clashed with riot officers at a city square at the end of a largely peaceful march.

Nearly 500 people were detained Tuesday, the ministry said. The widespread use of arrests, tear gas and riot-control weapons against teenagers is fueling defiance and angering some parents and teachers. Some student groups called for new protests Thursday.

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu defended the police response to student protests after one teenager lost a hand in an incident involving a police grenade and another lost sight in one eye after being struck by a projectile.

In parliament on Tuesday, Lecornu pushed back on accusations of police brutality or state repression, adding that the term “police brutality” implies that officers had been instructed to use force, according to Politico.

“What triggers police action is the occurrence of urban violence,” Lecornu said.

“Can accidents happen? The answer is yes,” he added.
