This is America, where freedom of speech is central to the foundation of our republic. You would think that means the public school system fosters a culture where diversity of thought is respected and encouraged—but that’s not always the case, especially at Laguna Beach High School.

On Sept. 11, a student wore a MAGA hat to school in honor of Charlie Kirk, less than 24 hours after his death. Wearing that hat is his God-given right. But because the school has failed to instill the importance of that right, another student decided to throw the hat on the floor.

The first student had the perfect response: ‘If you hate this country, move to Canada—they’ve got open borders anyway.’

Rumors quickly spread, with some accusing him of being xenophobic and falsely claiming he told the other student to ‘go back where you came from’—which he never did. And the worst part? The school chose to suspend him, treating the victim as if he were the aggressor.

Can you believe that happened at a public school in America? I can—because nowadays, so-called ‘educators’ not only fail to teach students the importance of political discourse, they actively disdain it. And there’s no better evidence for that than this story.

I don’t have to tell you why freedom of speech and upholding our constitutional rights are more important now than ever, but the school should—and must—do better. His mother believes the school acted against him because of his political beliefs, and I couldn’t agree more. Yet just because this outcome was expected doesn’t make it any less troubling. These are supposed to be places where political discussions happen the most, yet students are not apprehensive about expressing their opinions for fear of retaliation. That is something that should never be tolerated in this great nation.

As for the Civil Rights Act, Charlie Kirk did say its expansion was “a huge mistake.” Here’s the context. A student asked Charlie whether he wanted to get rid of the Civil Rights Act. He replied that he thought we should have a one-page bill that outlawed racial discrimination and left it at that. Most Americans, he went on to note, don’t support forcing women’s sports teams to allow men pretending to be women to compete. But the Civil Rights Act has been interpreted to say just that.

ABC announced Wednesday evening it was yanking Kimmel’s late-night talk therapy sessions — known by some as Jimmy Kimmel Live! — for an indefinite period from the airwaves. That move came after Kimmel delivered what he intended to be a comedic monologue centered on the public execution of Charlie Kirk, an innocent man, less than a week prior. It also came after, as Democrats on CNN hysterically repeated over and over, the Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr said on a podcast in relation to that monologue that TV stations relying on broadcast licenses should recommit themselves to the public interest, as required by existing law, or otherwise potentially face government action.

Because Carr, a Trump appointee, suggested his agencies might do their job and ensure compliance with public broadcasting rules, Democrats are calling the Kimmel suspension a violation of the First Amendment. There’s no reason to take them seriously for it. That party has done nothing in the past five years to hint it cares about the Bill of Rights or any other American ideal. They don’t. Washington, D.C.’s funding has been restored in a new draft of Congress’s continuing resolution legislation, averting the potential of millions in lost money.

House Republicans are trying to keep the government open through Nov. 21 and avoid a shutdown. While the current resolution does not hold any policy priorities favorable to either side, GOP House members said it does restore funding granted by the 2025 budget.

The past CR forced D.C. to rely on 2024 spending levels, which were millions below 2025 funds. While forecasts pointed to cuts near $1 billion, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office said the cuts ended up being around $410 million.

The mayor’s office had been waiting for Congress to unfreeze the city’s funds to avoid cuts to city services. Bowser had instated hiring freezes, reduced non-personnel services, and pushed off or shifted costs down the line.

The CR, if passed, allows D.C. to maintain its 2026 budget plan.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has accused Democrats of “openly pining for a government shutdown.”

“We need responsible options here to keep the government open while all this work continues, and Republicans are committed to making that happen,” Johnson told reporters Tuesday. “Predictably and unfortunately, there are some Democrats who are openly pining for a government shutdown.”

A Texas Tech student who was caught mocking conservative leader Charlie Kirk’s murder in a viral video has been arrested on an assault charge, according to court documents.

The public research university confirmed this week that Camryn Booker, 18, also is no longer a student there, KCBD/Gray News reports.

The incident took place Friday during a vigil on campus for Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA who was shot and killed last week during a Utah Valley University event, Fox News reports.

During the vigil, a police officer reported seeing Booker hit a man holding a “Rest in peace Charlie Kirk” sign, according to KCBD. Court records indicate Booker was arrested and charged with a Class C misdemeanor assault.

“The Texas Tech Police Department arrested a student for simple assault, which occurred on the west side of the Student Union Building (free speech area),” the Texas Tech Police Department told Fox News in a statement.

“The student was transported to the Lubbock County Jail,” and later released, according to police.

She is no longer a student at the university, Texas Tech stated Monday.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was taken into custody last Friday for assassinating TPUSA founder and conservative activist Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University.

Robinson will be held without bail as authorities prepare for trial. “I am filing a notice of intent to seek the death penalty. I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made… based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime,” Utah County District Attorney Jeff Gray said during a press conference.

Robinson was charged with:

(LifeSiteNews) — California legislators recently passed legislation to protect rogue abortionists who illegally send abortion drugs into states with protections for preborn babies. Governor Gavin Newsom has until mid-October to sign the legislation.

Assembly Bill 260, passed on a party line vote last week, “would authorize a pharmacist to dispense mifepristone or other drug used for [chemical] abortion without the name of the patient, the name of the prescriber, or the name and address of the pharmacy, subject to specified requirements,” according to a legislative summary.

While the pharmacy would maintain some information, the law “would prohibit the disclosure of the information to an individual or entity from another state.” Law enforcement could see the logs only with a subpoena.

The law has come under criticism from pro-life experts.

“California’s AB 260 seeks to shield abortion providers from accountability, even when their actions harm women and destroy innocent lives across state lines,” the California Family Council wrote in its analysis. “This dangerous law puts profit and ideology above the safety of children and families.”

Sometimes, it’s the little things. Sometimes, it’s bigger things. This time it’s the quarterly earnings report required by law of America’s publicly traded companies. And it’s President Trump suggesting on Truth Social that we should do away with quarterly earnings statements in favor of bi-annual statements. He’s right.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requires publicly traded companies to report their earnings quarterly. In contrast, the hyper-regulative European Union and United Kingdom require six-month reporting, though corporations are allowed to make quarterly statements if they want.

Quarterly reporting is just one of the hundreds of rules U.S. publicly traded companies face that privately held companies don’t. Nearly all of these rules make some sense in isolation, but collectively they represent an enormous burden, one effect of which is that even as the American economy has grown steadily over the years, the number of publicly traded companies had fallen by half. Houston, we have a problem.

Quarterly reporting is expensive to the corporation and a major time burden for senior management. These are relative nuisances.

It’s back-to-school season, and some teachers have promised that the racist ideas from diversity, equity, and inclusion would not be in their classrooms this year. That’s the good news. The bad news is that many of these teachers and administrators are clearly telling whoppers.

In fact, K-12 schools and colleges around the country are disguising their DEI offices and their racial preferences.

Take Maryland, across the border from the nation’s capital and where many federal bureaucrats sleep and send their children to school.

State education officials said schools would comply with President Donald Trump’s executive orders calling on schools to reject DEI, citing the ways in which DEI programs violate civil rights laws.

Yet schools in Montgomery County, precisely where the swamp lives, still have resources on their website dedicated to DEI and critical race theory.

This wealthy school district, which receives $51.5 million in federal taxpayer spending for children in its lower-income areas, offers online classes for teachers on “How to be an anti-racist and anti-racist educator.” These sessions argue that everything around us is racist because not everyone receives the same rewards in life.

So it does not matter how hard you work in life—everyone should have the same amount. That is “equity,” the course materials say. The way equity’s champions rationalize this to themselves is to say that success is the result of “whiteness,” or systemic racism or some such, not the result of effort.

With the enhanced Obamacare subsidies Democrats passed as part of their “Covid emergency” in 2021 set to expire on Dec. 31, congressional Republicans are considering what, if anything, to do about it. Respectfully, I don’t think he understands the political realities in the slightest. Extending the enhanced subsidies would 1) keep taxpayer dollars flowing to plans that fund abortion and 2) allow blue states to create “slush funds” for abortion tourism that undermine the protections that pro-life states, including Johnson’s home state of Louisiana, have worked diligently to enact.

Irony of ironies, the British government, which oppressed its American colonists to the point of revolt, is now doing the same on its own island.  English law, which provided the foundation for our own laws, and for our own freedoms, including freedom of speech, is now being used to suppress and silence British patriots.

Britons are now literally put in prison for expressing opinions that in America are taken for granted as a protected right.  Offending a sex pervert in Britain is a serious crime.

The oppression stems from unrestricted immigration, especially of Muslims, who share nothing in common with Classic British liberal values, neither in language nor culture nor common law.  Worse yet, while Britons remain underserved in return for the excessive taxation and regulation which Parliament imposes on them, their Muslim guests receive luxurious accommodations at taxpayer expense.

Muslim law, which blames non-Muslim women if they are raped by Muslim men, has found its way into British courts, where the rapes of small children and British women are treated as a minor misbehavior—and the rapes are reaching near epidemic proportions.  Bear in mind that Muslim law, as practiced by Muslims, does not recognize any rights of any non-Muslim.
