FIFA President Under Investigation For Bribing Trump www.politicususa.com

EXCERPT:

FIFA and corruption go together like peanut butter and jelly. You don’t have to be a fan of soccer to be aware of the 2015 FIFA corruption scandal that involved top officials taking $150 million in bribes to influence the awarding of the World Cup.

FIFA has earned a reputation as one of the most corrupt organizations on earth, which is why it was no surprise that Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino were thick as thieves.

PoliticusUSA is 100% independent with no political party or corporate influence. Support us by becoming a subscriber.

Trump magically made the FIFA convictions disappear, and House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin has launched a corruption investigation.

Raskin wrote to Infantino and laid out what looks like a bribery scheme:

DOJ’s puzzling capitulation makes a lot more sense when we reflect on FIFA’s brazen campaign to curry favor with Donald Trump since his re-election—a campaign that has now paid rich dividends for FIFA just as North America hosted its first joint World Cup. Over the past 18 months, you invented a hilariously fake “FIFA Peace Prize” to award to President Trump, who has made no secret of the fact that he covets the Nobel Peace Prize. You leased an office space on the 17th floor of Trump Tower—a space that might retail for $600,000 a year—even though it; would only be used during the 39-day period of the World Cup. That comes to more than $15,000 a day.

These actions appear designed to induce President Trump and his Administration to make decisions in FIFA’s favor. Even your predecessor, Sepp Blatter (himself suspended from world soccer in the wake of the bribery scandal) noted that your “yearslong campaign to curry favor” was aimed at influencing the President, wryly noting that “Infantino thinks he’s the leader in the relationship.” This strategy of outright bribery is not new to your organization.

GOP triggered by Mamdani making the ultrarich pay up www.dailykos.com

Republicans are lashing out at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after he announced the city had taken a significant step forward in securing millions in taxes owed by the city’s ultrawealthy residents.

Mamdani said on Thursday that notices had been sent out informing owners of second homes worth $5 million or more that the pied-à-terre tax put in place by the state’s Democrats is coming soon.

Under current law, the properties are undertaxed, and plans are to apply the money that will be raised to help address New York’s budget deficit.

“The best city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world. That’s only possible when we all pay our fair share,” Mamdani wrote.

An April estimate from the New York City comptroller analyzed the tax and found that it could provide as much as $510 million annually if fully implemented.

While Donald Trump tries to gaslight us into thinking his Trump-flation is not a problem, we non-billionaires know better. That includes New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

On Monday, Mamdani announced that the city-run grocery stores he plans to open will sell food staples at a 30% discount from “the typical retail price in New York City.” He told SiriusXM’s Lurie Daniel Favors, “It’s going to apply to all fresh produce, meat, seafood, along with around 20 other items like cheese, milk, bread, as well as pasta, soup, beans, nuts, rice, and flour.”

Mamdani promised during his campaign that he’d open city-run grocery stores. He has now announced locations for stores in two boroughs: the Bronx and Manhattan. On SiriusXM, he said he plans to open one in each of the other three boroughs by the end of 2029.

Mamdani said he expects New Yorkers will save $90 a month and about $1,000 per year.

ABC NBC Finally Cover Fauci Diaries Release Before Senate Hearing www.newsbusters.org

EXCERPT:

Since Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) released on Saturday nearly 2,000 pages of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s diaries that delivered one bombshell after another about how he handled the coronavirus pandemic, ABC and NBC had yet to say a word on the leading morning or evening shows. However, that changed Wednesday morning with stories explaining away his behavior ahead of what became an explosive Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing.

ABC’s Good Morning America only mustered a partial segment tallying 89 seconds, starting with co-host Robin Roberts announcing Fauci was “set to testify on Capitol Hill” for “a grilling by longtime critic Senator Rand Paul over his role in handling the COVID pandemic.”

D.C.-based correspondent Jay O’Brien also said it’d “be a fiery hearing” with Paul going after “Fauci, 85-years-old, once the nation’s top infectious disease expert who retired in 2022.”

He added Paul has “accused Fauci of everything from misleading the COVID — mishandling the COVID response, to misleading the public about COVID’s origins, to even lying to Congress, all of which Fauci strenuously denies” with his attorney calling Paul’s behavior a “years-long public crusade.”

Incredibly, O’Brien seemed to cast doubt on the veracity of the diaries: “Ahead of this hearing, Paul releasing more than one thousand pages worth of what he says are diary excerpts that Fauci wrote in the early days of the pandemic.”

CNN feted self-avoided Marxist Hasan Piker on their “Whole Story” episode called “The Left Insurgency.” The show was billed as an objective examination of the rise of the Democratic Socialists. It ended up being a celebration of the rise of the DSA, with Hasan Piker featured in the event at the beginning and the end.

Hasan Piker has endorsed terrorism by Hamas and by Antifa regularly on his twitch streams, where hundreds of thousands of children and young adults regularly hear messages endorsing political violence. Piker ended the “documentary” by declaring “there is 0% chance that whoever the elected Democrat is that wins the primary will be pro-Israel in any way, shape or form. You’ll see.”

PROPAGANDA: The CNN DSA Special Was Really a Hasan Piker Infomercial www.newsbusters.org
News Source
EXCERPT:

On Sunday, CNN aired a “Whole Story” special on what it called “The Left Insurgency”, which is Elitist Media shorthand for the DSA takeover of the Democrat Party. The documentary, hosted by Donie O’Sullivan, promised to examine the “new generation” of Democrat voters and include some Democrat dissenters. In the end, though, the doc proved to be little more than a promotional vehicle for Hasan Piker, who infamously said that America deserved 9/11.

The documentary is bookended, in fact, by Piker. O’Sullivan opens the doc with their interactions at the 2024 Democratic convention and closes it out with Piker’s prediction that the 2028 Democrat nominee won’t be an Israel supporter. Following that initial interaction with Piker, first mention of David Hogg and a cringe-inducing chat with actress Cynthia Nixon at a No Kings Rally, one gets the first serious indicator that this is little more than a fluff piece.

DONIE O’SULLIVAN: The issues that Piker and Hogg were talking about back in Chicago have come to play a defining role in the fight for the future of the Democratic Party.

PANEL MODERATOR: Is Israel committing genocide in Gaza?

O’SULLIVAN: Hogg and Piker are now part of an insurgency.

KAITLAN COLLINS: Hogg has pledged to spend millions funding primary challenges to what he calls “asleep-at-the-wheel Democrats.”

O’SULLIVAN: Hasan Piker, who, to quote Politico…

BILL SAMMON: …is driving a wedge in the Democratic Party

O’SULLIVAN: …an insurgency against centrist Democrats, one that is challenging party norms.

JONATHAN LEMIRE: These races do seem representative of the real struggle the party is going through right now post-2024.

O’SULLIVAN: And energizing young voters.

BRIAN ROMERO: Abolish ICE, free Palestine, and tax the (…) rich.

O’SULLIVAN: An insurgency that hopes to spark a revolution in the Democratic Party.

O’Sullivan then goes on to establish the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) as the heart of this insurgency, by “pulling the Democratic Party to the left”, a big downplay of the DSA agenda.

RALLY ATTENDEES: DSA! DSA! DSA!

O’SULLIVAN: At the heart of the insurgency is the DSA, the Democratic Socialists of America. The DSA is the largest socialist political organization in the country, and it’s working to pull the Democratic Party to the left.

RALLY HOST: Senator Bernie Sanders!

O’SULLIVAN: Today, they are holding a rally here in the Bronx in support of their New York candidates.

BERNIE SANDERS: Thank you. It is not Bernie. It is you. It’s all of us together. The work that you did to elect Zohran (Mamdani) as mayor will not only impact this city, it is reverberating all over the world.

O’SULLIVAN: You’re a democratic socialist.

DARIALIZA AVILA-CHEVALIER: I am.

O’SULLIVAN: You’ve never run for office before. Darializa Avila Chevalier is one of the candidates running for DSA in New York.

AVILA-CHEVALIER: Folks need to be able to see themselves in the Democratic Party again. I, like them, have felt abandoned by the establishment that is sending all our money onto these foreign wars. We need folks who are willing to reinvest that money into our communities, into our babies, making sure that we have universal childcare, free public education from cradle to college.

It bears noting that there is no examination of DSA candidate Darializa Avila-Chevalier (DAC) beyond a carefully curated pair of quotes. There is no examination of her history as an organizer of the violent anti-Israel protests at Columbia University, or of her more radical policy positions. For that matter, there is no examination whatsoever of what the DSA actually stands for, except its opposition both to AIPAC and to the Democrat establishment. No mentions of the things they want to seize and/or abolish. Conversely, there is no mention of the DSA’s use for the Democrat Party as little more than a ballot access vehicle.

The first segment closes out with, you guessed it: Hasan Piker. Coming back from the break, we get O’Sullivan’s first mention of communism: not as the natural end result of the policies publicly espoused by the DSA, but by invocation of the ghost of Joe McCarthy, and the live Donald Trump.

JOE McCARTHY: One communist on the faculty of one university is one communist too many.

O’SULLIVAN: Communism and socialism have long been bad words in American politics, dating back to the McCarthy hearings and the Cold War. America stood for capitalism.

DONALD TRUMP: They use the word Social Democrat because it sounds so nice, but it’s really communism you’re talking about.

O’SULLIVAN: But that is changing.

ANAND GIRIDHARADAS: You understand, I think rightly, this is a social democracy. This is not Gulag socialism. This is not the Soviet Union socialism.

HARRY ENTEN: Socialism, on the other hand, up like a rocket. Look at this. 2 in 3 Democrats have a favorable view of socialism.

O’SULLIVAN: Capitalism is even less popular among young people.

DAVID HOGG: If politicians want to know how to get elected, it is not complicated. Do your job and represent the people. Not the special interests buying out our elections.

What I think a lot about is the fact that if we do not start making our political system work for people that feel like they are living in a broken promise where they’ve done as a generation everything we’ve been told on average, right? We’ve gone to college at some of the highest rates of anybody, of any generation in American history. Contrary to popular belief, we’ve actually voted at the highest rates of any generational cohort at our age in American history. Consistently.

There is a fascinating juxtaposition here between the McCarthy quote, the recent palatability of socialism among the younger set and the Hogg line about his generation going to college at the high rate. The institutional rot in our academic institutions has proven McCarthy right!

In a disgusting aside, O’Sullivan lumps the shooting of President Trump and the assassination of Charlie Kirk along with the assassination of the United Health CEO- all the purported work of anti-capitalists who lost “belief in the system.”

O’SULLIVAN: Often, when belief in the system collapses, civil unrest and violence follow.

JOHN BERMAN: The CEO of United Health Care was murdered this morning.

The record reflects that the motive for the assassination of Charlie Kirk was overwhelmingly hatred over Kirk’s positions on transgenderism. Someone who purports to combat disinformation should be aware of that.

The first mention of Democrat opposition to the DSA takeover comes in at the 27-minute mark: a sit-down with James Carville.

O’SULLIVAN: Mr. Carville, nice to meet you. I’m Donie O’Sullivan.

One might think all the energy and excitement about a new generation of candidates might be a cause for celebration within the Democratic Party.

JAMES CARVILLE, WIELDING A BEIGNET: This is what I call a sign of advanced civilization.

O’SULLIVAN: But not for party veteran James Carville. How are you feeling about the midterms?

CARVILLE: I feel very good. The only thing that can derail us, we could nominate some of the wrong candidates in the wrong place and not be as successful as, I hope.

O’SULLIVAN: The wrong candidates. What do you mean by that?

CARVILLE: All right, let’s take in Michigan. And El-Sayed is highly competent, but he’s way left. I see challenges from the quote, “progressive left,” unquote, and these people are too hard headed to know that they’re not popular. People don’t like them. And, but if you get a skewed turnout in a primary, you might end up losing a race that you should have never lost in the first place.

O’SULLIVAN: When you say “progressive left,” you sort of- there’s a tone of contempt there.

CARVILLE: Yeah. Yeah. So you were very wise. I hope the camera was able to pick up the contempt.

O’SULLIVAN: This is high definition. Yes.

CARVILLE: They don’t win elections. They never run against Republicans. They just run against other Democrats. And their only message is, “we’re going to blow everything up.”

After some more Democrat dissent over antisemitism concerns and several additional doses of Piker, O’Sullivan balances things out by highlighting Cori Bush’s attempted comeback, and with David Hogg depicting AIPAC support as a moral evil comparable to that of the NRA.

After a chat with the Pod Save Obama bros who talk themselves into submitting to the DSA takeover, the doc closes out. Viewers get an upbeat depiction of the DSA candidates and a quick rundown of the issues- particularly Israel. The dissenters get a closing argument but the last word belongs to: you guessed it, Hasan Piker, predicting that the 2028 Democrat nominee will not be “pro-Israel in any way.”

O’SULLIVAN: Will you endorse the 2028 candidates if they are pro-Israel in a way that you don’t like? If you ultimately are about defeating fascism in this country as you describe it surely. Shouldn’t you get on board with whoever the main candidate is?

PIKER: Luckily, I don’t think I’ll have to make that calculation at all, because there is 0% chance that whoever the elected Democrat is that wins the primary will be pro-Israel in any way, shape or form. You’ll see.

This documentary was not so much an exposition of the threat faced by the Democratic Party as it was a call to submission. There is no other purpose this slop could possibly serve given O’Sullivan’s treatment of the subject matter, the individuals he chose to elevate, its timing ahead of the critical Michigan primary and the lack of coverage devoted to what the DSA actually stands for.

A 68-year-old nurse who brought her mobile clinic to serve visitors at an ICE detention center, only to be thrown to the ground by ICE agents. A pair of cemetery workers who were maced and handcuffed at work after ICE agents broke through a gate to reach them. A family of six wrongly detained for a month. A trans man forced to labor without pay in ICE detention, and a legal observer beat with a baton at the scene of Alex Pretti’s killing.

These are some of the 54 people who filed tort claims against federal agents this week as part of a nationwide ACLU push for ICE accountability. 32 are US citizens, 22 are immigrants. And they’re all seeking monetary damages for harm sustained during Donald Trump’s ICE surge.

Under US law, it is near-impossible for a person to file a civil rights lawsuit against an individual federal agent, the way someone who’s been hurt by a local or state police officer could. But an increasing number of people harmed by ICE and DHS agents are filing tort claims: demanding monetary compensation from the federal government for what has been done to them.

The Pentagon has never passed a full financial audit, and Trump was trying to shake Congress down for $1.15 trillion in additional military funding.

One of the reasons why Israel under Netanyahu has been able to carry out what many consider to be a genocide in Gaza and start a war with Iran is because the United States has protected Israel.

Netanyahu has made Israel historically unpopular in the United States. Many Americans want Israel under Netanyahu to fight its own wars and stand on its own.

On Friday’s Money, Power, and Politics on MS NOW, fill-in host Ali Vitali fretted that President Donald Trump is “otherizing” illegal alien truck drivers while replacing them with veterans, but did not mention the problem of many such illegal aliens causing car crash deaths.

In contrast with Fox News, which has given substantial coverage to the issue of illegal aliens who are unable to pass driving tests being given commercial drivers licenses in blue states, and then going on to cause deadly car crashes, MS NOW has a history of barely mentioning such truckers.

Politico Finally Admits Voter Registration Runs On Honor System thefederalist.com

Politico has spent months telling Americans that Republican concerns about noncitizens in our elections were exaggerated. Yet now that New Jersey admitted more than 6,000 noncitizens ended up on its voter rolls (about 400 of whom voted) — Politico has discovered the problem was apparently an “open secret” all along.

New Jersey Democrat Gov. Mikie Sherrill recently announced that a “software error” in the state’s motor vehicle system “led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024.” The noncitizens allegedly answered “no” when asked whether they were citizens, but the system registered them anyway. Of those registered, nearly 400 illegally cast a ballot, the governor’s office said.

Now that the reality of noncitizens both registering to vote and voting is too difficult for the corporate media to ignore, they have to cover it. Politico’s Matt Friedman reports that the announcement “exposed an open secret about New Jersey’s so-called motor voter law that officials and political operatives have known for years: There’s little to stop noncitizens from registering to vote if they want to, or even by mistake.”

Iran has furiously hit back at earlier claims from Donald Trump that new talks are imminent over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s foreign Minister, Esmaeil Baghaei said the regime was merely holding talks with Oman in order to establish a temporary safe route through the Strait of Hormuz.

He stated that there were no plans either to receive a delegation or to send one. He also noted that an agreement with Oman, despite its location along the strategic waterway, would not by itself be sufficient to facilitate the waterway’s reopening. Earlier, Donald Trump asserted that talks with Iran were scheduled to take place that day and claimed that Washington and Tehran had reached an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route that Iran has largely restricted since the outbreak of the conflict.

Speaking on board Air Force One on Sunday, he said Iran “knew the extent of the attack because they saw it forming”, adding: “We are talking to them in the form of a negotiation. It begins tomorrow afternoon.”

Perhaps above all else, Donald Trump is a child of the cold war.

Three months before the US president was born, Winston Churchill delivered a historic speech in Fulton, Missouri, that ushered in a generations-long existential struggle between western capitalism and Soviet communism.

Lamenting the spread of Soviet communism across eastern Europe following the allied victory in the second world war, Churchill – by then no longer British prime minister – warned his audience on 5 March 1946 that “an iron curtain has descended across the continent”.

It was the prelude to a nuclear-armed standoff between Washington and Moscow that triggered a hysteria-driven “red scare” in the US – leading to the execution of convicted spies and exemplified by witch-hunts instigated by the Republican senator Joe McCarthy, who claimed he had obtained lists of communist agents working in the state department and other key areas of American life.

The hunt for communists would have been a ubiquitous theme of Trump’s early childhood.

President Trump’s “anti-weaponization” fund has become the chief stumbling block to Todd Blanche’s confirmation as attorney general, with key Republicans saying they cannot let him be approved until the $1.776 billion idea is fully eradicated.

Mr. Blanche has told lawmakers that the fund is dead and he will not release any of the money.

Still, senators said the language of the deal, which Mr. Blanche signed off on as acting attorney general, could leave wiggle room for Mr. Trump to ask a court to enforce it.

One of those Republicans, Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, said he would hold up any action until either Mr. Blanche renegotiates the settlement to make clear that the fund is expunged or Congress passes legislation to firmly nullify the fund.

“We need to have a fork stuck in the 1776 fund,” Mr. Tillis told reporters. “I want a renegotiated agreement that ends this forever. That is final.”

The senator said the Justice Department is negotiating on the matter.

Dozens of soldiers were injured in previously unreported strikes last week, the New York Times says

The Pentagon has withheld information about dozens of service members injured during the war with Iran, The New York Times reported on Monday, citing US officials.

On Friday, Iran struck a US military site in Jordan, killing two soldiers, wounding four, and leaving one missing. According to the Times, however, dozens of service members were injured throughout the week in three other strikes against US forces in the country. Several helicopters were also reportedly damaged in the attacks.

An official told CNN that “it can take several days or even weeks” for an injury to be logged into the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS), an official database. A total of 427 service members have been injured in the war with Iran, the Times said, citing official figures.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell argued that “providing real-time information on non-fatal casualties to the media is the same as providing that information directly to our adversaries.”
