YouTube’s parent company Google did not immediately respond to questions on the apparent termination of the Venezuelan president’s account. It comes amid rising tensions between Venezuela and the United States over the deployment of American warships and fighter jets in the southern Caribbean.

Maduro’s YouTube account had more than 200,000 followers before it became unavailable Friday and was used to publish the Venezuelan president’s speeches, as well as clips from his weekly show on Venezuelan state TV.

On its website, YouTube says it eliminates accounts that commit “repeated violations of community guidelines” that include publishing misinformation, hate speech and content that “interferes with democratic processes.”

Maduro has been widely accused of stealing last year’s presidential election in Venezuela, which he lost by a landslide according to tally sheets gathered by hundreds of Venezuelan opposition activists. Venezuela’s elections agency, which is controlled by the ruling socialist party, never published tally sheets to support its claim that Maduro won the vote.

QUITO, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa declared a 60-day state of emergency in seven provinces on Tuesday, citing “serious internal unrest” after transport unions went on strike over raised diesel prices.

Noboa issued the order after his decision Friday to eliminate diesel subsidies triggered the walkout on Monday, saying the state of emergency responds to police and emergency reports of “serious internal unrest” from protests and road closures that have been “escalating and disrupting public order.”

According to the decree, it “does not imply any restriction on the right to demonstrate, provided that it is peaceful and does not affect the rights, freedoms, and guarantees of other citizens.”

It also authorizes the armed forces and national police to take necessary measures to maintain order, prevent violence and protect citizens, as well as to safeguard free movement and economic activity.

PROVO, Utah: Utah prosecutors said on Tuesday (Sep 16) they will seek the death penalty for the suspect in conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination and revealed evidence including alleged text messages in which he confessed.

Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of firing a single rifle shot from a rooftop sniper’s nest that killed the 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder on the campus of Utah Valley University last Wednesday.

“I had enough of his hatred,” Robinson told his roommate and romantic partner, according to court transcripts filed by prosecutors.

Utah County District Attorney Jeffrey Gray announced seven counts, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice for disposing of evidence, and witness tampering. He said the decision to seek the death penalty was made “independently, based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime.”
