The U.S. House has passed a bill to repeal a provision included in the continuing resolution that ended the historic government shutdown. The bill is NOT addressing the provision that makes most of the CBD industry illegal. The bill removes the permission for Federal employees who were victims of Operation Arctic Frost to sue the Federal government.

The operation, run by DNC attorney Jack Smith, spied on mostly Republicans’ phone records, including its top leadership, including Marco Rubio. The bill required a two-thirds yes vote to pass, which it did. Seven members, three Republicans and four Democrats, chose not to vote at all. It must now pass the Senate, which is not a guarantee as of right now.

The House has passed a bill to repeal a provision in the government shutdown-ending continuing resolution that allowed lawmakers surveilled by the federal government to seek damages.

The House passed the bill to repeal the funding bill provision that would permit U.S. senators to sue the government for “$500,000 or the amount of actual damages” if the government has subpoenaed or seized their data without notification by a vote of 426 to 0. Two hundred and sixteen Republicans and 210 Democrats voted to strip the provision from the stopgap measure.

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten found on Tuesday that the majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump is delivering on his campaign promises.

A majority of voters, 52%, believe that Trump is fulfilling what he promised throughout his 2024 campaign, prompting him to currently have a 43% approval rating, Enten said while citing his aggregate data. The voters expected Trump to secure the border, bring down inflation and address crime, which have caused his favorability rating to remain steady.

“Donald Trump is who the voters thought he was,” Enten said. “What are we talking about here, well, ‘Is Trump doing what he promised?’ in the 2024 campaign? Yes! 52%, a majority of Americans say that Donald Trump is doing what he promised, compared to 48% who said no. So what essentially is going on here is the voters expected all of this from Donald Trump. The majority did, and that’s why his favorability ratings simply has not really moved all that much compared to where it was a year ago.”

“Trump is basically doing what the American people thought that he was going to do and indeed, if you look at the numbers, Trump has basically the same, steadiest favorable rating this much through a presidency of any president on record and it’s basically where he was a year ago. Good enough to get him reelected,” Enten continued.

Half of registered voters agreed that people celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination should be fired, according to a new poll.

ABC briefly suspended late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for the last week over comments he made about Kirk’s assassination. Kimmel was reinstated by the company on Monday.

Kimmel’s temporary suspension, as well as several other firings in universities and sports organizations across the country, has raised concerns about freedom of speech and censorship.

Before ABC announced the suspension, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr criticized Kimmel’s comments on Kirk’s assassination.

The poll, conducted by RMG Research and the Napolitan News Service on 1,000 registered voters, found 51% of respondents said it is appropriate for private companies to fire people who celebrate an assassination like Charlie Kirk’s online.

The poll showed steep partisan divides as 80% of Republican respondents and 27% of Democrat respondents agreed that it is appropriate for private companies to fire people who celebrate an assassination like Kirk’s.

“Sadly, the poll shows that early reactions have been just as partisan as everything else in the political world,” said Scott Rasmussen, founder of the Napolitan Institute.

Socialism: A national 'bluff'

The socialist brand is on the rise, according to recent polling, fueling the left flank of the Democratic Party to argue its ideology is becoming more mainstream.

Shortly after Gallup released data showing Democrats and independents are cooling toward capitalism, a progressive organization is out with a poll finding that more than half of likely Democratic voters prefer socialist-aligned figures like Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani to establishment politicians like Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jefrries and Nancy Pelosi.

Democratic voters also view elected officials who describe themselves as democratic socialists about as positively as those who identify as Democrats, and they prefer democratic socialism to capitalism when written definitions of each are read aloud to them, according to the poll conducted by Data for Progress and shared first with POLITICO.

“What the mainstream of the party wants is both democratic socialism as a value system and democratic socialist politicians,” said Gabe Tobias, executive director of the Democratic Socialists of America Fund, a political nonprofit organization that funded the survey with the magazine Jacobin and the Berlin-based democratic socialist group Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

Though Democratic voters are warming to socialism, the ideology is toxic to most Republicans and many independents, making it difficult for socialists to win in battlegrounds. Even within the Democratic Party, some voters are skeptical about the electability of democratic socialists in swing areas, a reality Sanders faced during his two unsuccessful presidential runs.

Now, the Democratic Party is for elite, college-educated women angered by President Donald Trump and MAGA, such as the white-haired Virginia woman who went viral last week with a racist protest message against black GOP Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

“As a party of mostly college-educated females, they’re drastically alienating everyone else,” Cygnal pollster Brent Buchanan said this week, alluding to his latest survey showing the Democratic image sinking, now twice as bad as the Republicans.

He suggested that it’s the issues the Democratic base is choosing that are driving away its core. For example, the base is angered at Trump’s efforts to boost safety in cities by deploying the National Guard, but others aren’t worked up about it.

“It’s college-educated women driving the ‘threats to democracy’ increase in ‘top priority,’” Buchanan said. “The Left has become an echo chamber out of touch with the majority of the country.”
