United States is considering expanding tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil, including India, but only if the European Union takes similar steps, a US official told news agency AFP on Tuesday. According to the report, dialling in to talks between US and EU officials, president Donald Trump suggested tariffs of between 50 and 100 per cent on buyers such as China and India.“The source of the money for the Russian war machine is oil purchases by China and India. If you do not get at the source of the money, there’s no way to stop the war machine,” the official said as quoted. Trump, the official added, is “ready to go” but wants the EU to act alongside the US.The discussions in Washington reportedly were led by EU sanctions envoy David O’Sullivan, with US treasury secretary Scott Bessent and officials from the state department and the US trade representative also taking part. Ukraine’s prime minister joined the session, while Trump made his intervention remotely, said the official.

After pledging to restore its “Old Timer” logo, Cracker Barrel announced Tuesday it will suspend its restaurant remodel program in response to customer concerns over modernization plans.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store said in a statement on Tuesday that it will halt remodels of its restaurants and maintain its traditional branding in response to widespread customer feedback. The company revealed the update in a post on X and on its website, noting that guests had voiced opposition to both the new logo design and changes to store interiors.

“We’re continuing to listen. Today, we’re suspending our remodels. If your restaurant hasn’t been remodeled, you don’t need to worry, it won’t be,” the company wrote. “With our recent announcement that our ‘Old Timer’ logo will remain, along with our bigger focus in the kitchen and on your plate, we hope that today’s step reinforces that we hear you.”

The company added that while it tested a modernized interior design in only four of its 660 locations, the plan will not move forward. Cracker Barrel reaffirmed its commitment to its signature “vintage Americana” atmosphere, including rocking chairs on porches, fireplaces, peg games, and antiques sourced from its Lebanon, Tennessee, warehouse.

Cracker Barrel also emphasized that the “Old Timer” logo, featuring the well-known character Uncle Herschel, would remain on road signs, menus, and in stores. The chain recently restored “Uncle Herschel’s Favorite Breakfast Platter” to its menu, pointing to customer demand for tradition.

The decision comes after weeks of backlash to Cracker Barrel’s rebranding efforts, which included a redesigned logo that omitted the classic illustration. The logo change was part of a broader $700 million modernization plan led by CEO Julie Felss Masino, which also included updated restaurant interiors and menu changes.

Company cofounder Tommy Lowe criticized the redesign in late August, calling the new logo “pitiful” and urging leadership to “keep it country.” The uproar intensified after Cracker Barrel’s stock price dropped more than 12 percent following the rollout of the new design.

President Donald Trump also weighed in, encouraging the company to revert to its classic branding. Trump congratulated Cracker Barrel after the reversal, saying the move could help restore customer loyalty.

In its Tuesday statement, Cracker Barrel reiterated its long-standing values, first established when the company opened in 1969: “hard work, family, and scratch-cooked food made with care.” The company stressed that while it may experiment with new platforms and menu items, the heritage and country hospitality that defined the brand would remain central.

“Our 70,000 hard-working team members look forward to welcoming you for breakfast, lunch or dinner soon,” the company expressed.

Trump Probes More Blue City Federalizations in Wake of DC Success

President Donald Trump celebrated 2000 arrested by Federal law enforcement in Washington D.C. following its federalization of the city’s law enforcement. He is looking to do similar things in other blue cities, with Chicago seeming to be the next target. Governor Pritzker (D-IL) called Trump a “wannabe dictator” for making the threats. ICE patrols have already started in the city.

As President Donald Trump’s federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department draws to a close, the Trump administration boasted a high number of arrests and illegal guns seized.

Speaking at a Tuesday press conference, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that since the federal takeover of Washington’s police on Aug. 7, police had made 2,177 arrests. Of those, 57 were made on Monday night, and 14 of those were illegal immigrants. Several of these were on warrants for violent crimes, including someone who reportedly pistol-whipped a victim during a carjacking and another who allegedly shot two people during an altercation.

Attorney General Pam Bondi noted that 222 illegal firearms were seized since the beginning of the takeover, eight of which were seized on Monday.

The U.S. Supreme Court delivered a win for the Trump administration in its bid to enforce immigration laws in California on Monday. The ruling is the latest in a string of SCOTUS orders revoking overreaching injunctions issued by rogue lower court judges.

In its 6-3 decision, the high court placed a temporary stay on a lower court injunction that prohibited Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from carrying out deportation operations in Los Angeles, California. The injunction was issued in July by Biden-appointed District Judge Maame E. Frimpong, who argued that plaintiffs would likely succeed on their claims that the administration’s raids violated the Fourth Amendment.

According to Monday’s Supreme Court order, the temporary stay on Frimpong’s block will remain in effect “pending the disposition of the appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and disposition of a petition for a writ of certiorari, if such a writ is timely sought.” The stay will terminate if a potential petition from the government to SCOTUS is denied by the high court or if SCOTUS agrees to take up the matter and render a final judgement in the case.

Associate Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson would have denied the administration’s application for relief.

In a concurring opinion, Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh argued that “the Government has made a sufficient showing to obtain a stay pending appeal.” He laid out several reasons, one of which included the argument that “plaintiffs likely lack Article III standing to seek a broad injunction restricting immigration officers from making these investigative stops.”

This is just disgusting…

E. Jean Carroll, the deranged woman who accused President Trump of raping her in the ’90s, just confessed that the entire trial was an act — complete with costumes.

In order to win her case, Caroll says that she and her lawyers manipulated her hair, makeup, and clothes in order to appear “f*ckable” to the jurors and convince them she was sexually-desirable to President Trump.

She said she cut her hair into the same style she had it in the ’90s and wore the same exact clothing. A makeup artist did her hair and makeup before the trial everyday, for the big show.

She admitted, “It was enough, it was enough. It was a trick.”

Watch this for yourself:

This reeks of delusion.

President Trump notoriously shut down Carroll’s rape accusation, claiming that she isn’t even his “type.”

For reference, this is her in the ’90s:

I could be wrong, but I really don’t think Carroll’s “trick” worked as well as she thinks it did…

Still, it’s an admission of fraud.

We knew she was a fraudster this entire time, but to hear her say it — point-blank — is frankly, disturbing.

Carroll’s admission comes right on the heels of a federal appeals court handing her a win and upholding the case.

Fox News reported:

President Donald Trump is still facing a $83.3 million payment to writer E. Jean Carroll after a federal appeals court rejected his challenge of a defamation verdict against him Monday.

The ruling from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholds a lower court decision finding that Trump did, in fact, defame Carroll. Trump’s lawyers argued his comments about Carroll were protected by presidential immunity and that the verdict in the case was unjust. The three-judge panel rejected both of those claims.

“We conclude that Trump has failed to identify any grounds that would warrant reconsidering our prior holding on presidential immunity. We also conclude that the district court did not err in any of the challenged rulings and that the jury’s damages awards are fair and reasonable,” the court opinion read.

“The record in this case supports the district court’s determination that the ‘the degree of reprehensibility’ of Mr. Trump’s conduct was remarkably high, perhaps unprecedented,” the court added.

The appeals court should have seen this video before ruling on that case…

On another note, did anyone else notice the background?

Is that Carroll’s house?!

If so, that hoarding situation she’s got going on is yet another testament to her insanity.

What a nasty woman.

Thousands of student-led protesters chanted slogans against Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic at a rally in downtown Belgrade on Monday, accusing police of brutality during recent anti-government demonstrations that have shaken his populist rule.

The protesters demanded that police officers responsible for excessive use of force during months of unrest be punished, including for alleged rape threats against a female student.

The protests started in November when a concrete canopy collapsed at a train station in Serbia’s north, killing 16 people. The disaster ignited an anti-corruption movement led by university students alleging graft-fueled negligence as its cause.

Student Nikolina Sindjelic, who was detained last month during the protests, said she was beaten and sexually harassed during her detention. Sindjelic told the rally that the “entire state system has been directed against its own citizens.”

“They (government) beat us because they are afraid of us,” Sindjelic said in a speech outside the headquarters of a special police unit, whose commander she accused of rape threats. “They have hit us and they will hit us because they know it is all over (for them).”

But if recent history is any guide, don’t expect Jean-Pierre’s appearance to garner much, if ANY broadcast network coverage.

MRC analysts looked at ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS evening, morning and Sunday roundtable news shows from June 18 (when the closed hearings began) to the morning of September 10 and found a total of 4 minutes, 2 seconds spent on the scandal.

NBC aired 3 minutes, 29 seconds on the hearings into Biden’s mental decline. PBS devoted just a scant 33 seconds to the hearings. ABC and CBS have yet to air a single second on them.

The gut-wrenching murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte,  North Carolina, last month, in particular, has captured the attention of the president, who condemned the attack as a preventable tragedy resulting from weak Democrat criminal justice policies.

Zarutska, 23, was brutally stabbed on the neck by Decarlos Brown Jr., a homicidal maniac with an extensive criminal history, while riding on a Charlotte light rail train on August 22, 2025.

The president said it’s time “to stop this madness,” adding that he stands with victims and law-abiding citizens, while Democrats side with criminals, gang members, and thugs.

“For far too long, Americans have been forced to put up with Democrat-run cities that set loose savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people—really very, very innocent people,” Trump said in a White House video, Tuesday.  “In every place they control, radical left judges, politicians, and activists have adopted a policy of catch and release for thugs and killers,” Trump continued.

“In Charlotte North Carolina, we saw the results of these policies when a 23-year-old woman who came here from Ukraine met her bloody end on a public train,” Trump lamented. “She was slaughtered by a deranged monster who was roaming free after 14 prior arrests.”

Three members of the five-judge panel trying Bolsonaro’s case must support a conviction, in a process that can last several days. Two judges voted for conviction before proceedings were adjourned until Wednesday. Three more must cast their votes.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who is overseeing the case and is considered by Bolsonaro supporters a foe, said the far-right politician who governed Brazil between 2019 and 2022 was the leader of a coup plot and of a criminal organization, and voted in favor of convicting him.

Donald Trump inflicted plenty of damage on the United States over the course of his first four years in office, but the most enduring blow may have been his radicalization of the Supreme Court. He appointed not one, not two, but three conservative justices, all of whom were hand-selected by right-wing activists.

The remade court quickly paid dividends, issuing decisions overturning Roe v. Wade and granting Trump immunity from prosecution for acts committed while president. Now, it’s actively enabling the restored president’s fascist regime.

The conservative justices have already made it harder for judges to shut down Trump’s lawlessness and overtly unconstitutional orders — such as his effort to eliminate the constitutional guarantee to birthright citizenship — and keeps allowing him to fire ostensibly independent regulators and government workers en masse without any basis. Worse yet, the court has decided that Trump can arbitrarily deport immigrants to third-party countries to which they have no ties, even to exceedingly dangerous countries like South Sudan, with little opportunity to challenge the government’s decisions.

From its base on Yale’s West Campus, the lab’s previous work revealed the role and atomic structures of the nanowires, but to explain how the electrons were moving so fast, Malvankar found himself returning to where he began—the world of quantum theory.

“Biological theory just couldn’t explain their speed,” explained the associate professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry. “Either our measurements were wrong, or we needed a new theory.”

On Monday afternoon’s CNN News Central, chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst John Miller and chief media analyst Brian Stelter offered two ridiculous reactions to last month’s brutal murder in Charlotte, North Carolina of a Ukrainian refugee allegedly at the hands of a thug with 14 prior arrests.

For the latter, it was a lack of government-funded mental health care while the latter bemoaned those outraged have been dabbling in racism.

Fill-in co-host Danny Freeman huffed at the top in a tease: “Fueling a political firestorm. How a video of a deadly stabbing in Charlotte has turned into a flashpoint as the administration pushes its crime crackdown.”

Notice how it’s always painted as a negative and political when CNN’s enemies blow the whistle on something being a problem.

After a set-up from co-host Brianna Keilar and sound of President Trump offering his condolences to the family of Iryna Kartuska, Miller went first and described the video then chalked it up to “someone who has a mental health history” and “clearly fell between the cracks in terms of the kind of treatment he was getting and this terrible, terrible crime.”

A clinical trial in the U.K. is evaluating a new blood test that could reshape how Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed, according to The National.

Participants showing early signs of dementia are being recruited through NHS memory clinics to evaluate the test’s effectiveness. Researchers expect to have conclusive results within the next three years.

The project, led by University College London, focuses on whether measuring levels of the protein p-tau217 in blood samples can lead to faster and more accurate detection of Alzheimer’s disease. Early studies indicate that the test can identify individuals with cognitive decline with about 80 percent accuracy as being likely to have the disease.

First identified in 1906 by German physician Alois Alzheimer, Alzheimer’s disease is the leading cause of dementia in older adults and is marked by a progressive decline in cognitive abilities.

Alzheimer’s is associated with the accumulation of amyloid and tau proteins in the brain. P-tau217 is considered a particularly strong biomarker because it signals the presence of both.

GLP-1 drugs are having a major impact on the pharmaceutical industry. This class of drugs, which includes Ozempic, were used primarily to treat type 2 diabetes; the discovery that a side effect is appetite suppression led to their use in weight management. The demand for these drugs has exploded and is projected to continue to grow at a rapid pace in coming years.

Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk hold multiple patents for different GLP-1 drugs. In recent years they could not produce enough of the drugs to meet demand. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved production of the drugs by chemical compounders to meet the demand. The FDA recently determined that a shortage of the drugs no longer exists and lifted that approval. The drug compounders have filed suit against the FDA to allow them to continue producing the drugs.

The patents for GLP-1 drugs held by Ely Lilly and Novo Nordisk are set to expire in different countries in coming years. In China alone, more than a dozen companies are developing generic versions of the drugs. As pharmaceutical firms in China and other countries bring generics to the market, competition is becoming fierce. Meanwhile generic producers of the drugs are challenging the patent rights held by these companies.

Thus far Ely Lilly and Novo Nordisk have been successful in protecting their multiple patent rights for GLP-1 drugs through the legal system. For example, Novo Nordisk recently reached a legal settlement with producers of generic GLP-1 drugs that resolved their patent dispute. While details of the settlement are not available, they likely include entry dates for bringing generics to the market, and royalty agreements that are standard in settling patent disputes. Resolving patent disputes through the legal system provides the fundamental protection of intellectual property rights in the pharmaceutical industry, but that is about to change.

One of the most serious challenges to pharmaceutical companies in protecting their patent rights is contained in legislation being considered by Congress. The Ethic Act S.2276 would bar pharmaceutical firms from litigating more than one patent in a defined group in patent disputes. Proponents claim that the Act would increase competition in the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, it will have the opposite impact. The Act ignores the complexity of GLP-1 drugs that have multiple uses requiring multiple patents and will seriously handicap Ely Lilly and Novo Nordisk in patent disputes. While Ely Lilly and Novo Nordisk have a competitive advantage as the innovators in producing GLP-1 drugs, we should expect more patent disputes as China and other countries bring generics to this fiercely competitive market.

The Ethic Act ignores the success that pharmaceutical firms have had in resolving patent disputes through the legal system. Ely Lilly and Novo Nordisk have resolved patent disputes regarding GLP-1 drugs through the legal system, but the Ethic Act undermines their ability to protect those patent rights. Asking these firms to defend only one patent ad seriatim in a defined group of drugs in which they have multiple patents is like sending a boxer into the ring with one hand tied behind his back.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said that a Labor Department report released Tuesday confirmed that the U.S. economy is slowing down.

The department revised lower its nonfarm payrolls data for the year through March 2025 by 911,000 jobs from initial estimates. That was on the high side of Wall Street’s expectations for a downward shift and the biggest revision in more than two decades.

“I think the economy is weakening,” Dimon said. “Whether it’s on the way to recession or just weakening, I don’t know.”

The revision, showing the world’s largest economy produced far fewer jobs than thought, follows a report indicating employment growth had slowed to a near halt in July, adding just 73,000 jobs. President Donald Trump fired the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner last month hours after the release of that report.
